The first official teaser for American Horror Story season 8 has just dropped. The newest season, subtitled Apocalypsewill not just have an apocalyptic setting, but will also be a crossover between the Murder House and Coven seasons. With this new teaser, viewers get their first look at the twisted tale Ryan Murphy will serve his fans in a little more than a month.

American Horror Story has been giving fans goosebumps ever since the first season aired back in 2011. While there are many horror TV shows on cable television and streaming services, not many are presented as an anthology-style series. Murphy decided to do just that by making each season of American Horror Story center on a different group of characters in a new frightening setting. Everything from an insane asylum to the 2016 presidential election has been the basis for a season with season 8 promising to fuel apocalyptic nightmares.

Released by FX, the American Horror Story: Apocalypse teaser trailer opens with a fetus being fed a black substance via an umbilical cord that is connected to a black heart. Like most of the American Horror Story teasers, this first look at Apocalypse has tons of creative imagery which will no doubt be explained as the new season unravels. FX has packed a lot into a rather short teaser depicting scenes of scorpions spilling out of a rotting onion, the seal of a witch coven, and multiple visuals of nuclear fallout.

Season 8 has a promising premise since it will finally begin to connect the seemingly very different seasons into one coherent universe. It was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that the eighth season would be subtitled Apocalypse and Murphy himself confirmed the Murder House and Coven crossover via Twitter back in June. While the setting is no doubt something for fans to be excited about, there are also some fan-favorite cast members who are returning for the newest season. Billie Lourd, Emma Roberts, Taissa Farmiga, and most recently Jessica Lange have all been confirmed to be returning.

Although Lange had seemed to distance herself from the show after season 4, it has been announced she will be reprising her role of Constance Langdon for Apocalypse. Since this season will be the show's first big crossover, it makes sense to bring back key cast members who are not only crucial to the story, but to viewership who have stuck with the series for seven years.
