One of the stars of American Horror Story season 11 has seemingly confirmed the subtitle of the new season. American Horror Story, which was co-created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, premiered on FX in 2011. Every subsequent season has featured many of the same cast members in different roles, with a different setting and theme for each, though as time has gone by, the AHS universe has featured plenty of crossover between various seasons. The upcoming American Horror Story season 11 will feature the return of quite a few AHS veterans, including Billie Lourd, Isaac Powell, Zachary Quinto, Denis O'Hare, Leslie Grossman, Rebecca Dayan, Patti LuPone, Dot-Marie Jones, and Pose's Sandra Bernhard. Joining the show for the first time are Broadway stars Gideon Glick and Joe Mantello, Looking's Russell Tovey, and Teen Wolf star Charlie Carver.

Yesterday, rumors began to swirl that the official title of AHS season 11 would be American Horror Story: New York City. However, these rumors - which appeared on We Got This Covered and the fan Twitter account The AHS Zone - have not yet been confirmed by FX or the show's producers. As part of the same announcement, it was also reported that the show would premiere on October 19.

Today, on his official Twitter account, O'Hare retweeted two fan accounts sharing the New York City news. One was a post from Denis O'Hare FBGroup showing a supposed Hulu banner for the series, and the other was from the French page AHS France, which shared visuals from the season, though they acknowledged that they are still waiting for official confirmation. While FX has remained tight-lipped on the new American Horror Story season, the fact that O'Hare - who will be appearing in the season - has shared these graphics would at least seem to confirm that the reported season title is correct. What AHS: New York City Could Be About

If this American Horror Story season 11 theme indeed turns out to be true, the episode list reported by The AHS Zone may also turn out to be true. This includes intriguing titles like "Something’s Coming," "Smoke Signals," "Black Out," "The Body," and "Fire Island." It makes sense that any horror story set in New York would want to take advantage of the chilling potential presented by the city's famous blackouts, and a Fire Island setting for an episode would work well with Murphy's interest in including LGBTQ+ themes in his work. One thing that has been officially confirmed by FX chairman John Landgraf is the fact that American Horror Story season 11 will take place in two different timelines. This also lends credence to the rumored episode titles for the finale episodes, which are "Requiem 1981/1987 - Part One" and "Part Two."

If this setting and timeline prove to be correct, American Horror Story will have to work hard to make sure it doesn't encroach too far on the territory covered in Pose, another recent Murphy series. That show followed the AIDS crisis and the various exploits of LGBTQ+ folks in New York's ballroom culture as the 1980s rolled into the 1990s. While it was a drama rather than a horror series, it did feature its share of murder and violence, so fans of both series will likely be somewhat frustrated if season 11 doesn't bring more to the table.
