Two new posters for American Horror Story: NYC show off characters who will be appearing in season 11 of the horror anthology series. American Horror Story, which was co-created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, premiered on FX in 2011. Although every season has a different theme, setting, and roster of characters, many actors have recurred on the series throughout the years, with some of the most frequent cast members including Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, and Evan Peters, who recently made a splash on Netflix by reuniting with Murphy for the hit serial killer series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

American Horror Story: NYC is set to premiere on FX on October 19, with ten episodes running two at a time weekly through November 16. The episode will be set in New York City, most likely during the 1980s. The cast this time around features a variety of performers from previous seasons as well as other Ryan Murphy series, including Billie Lourd (4 seasons of AHS & Scream Queens), Zachary Quinto (2 seasons of AHS), Leslie Grossman (4 seasons of AHS), Sandra Bernhard (1 season of AHS & Pose), Isaac Cole Powell (1 season of AHS), Denis O'Hare (6 seasons of AHS), and Patti LuPone (1 season of AHS & Pose). The season will also feature the AHS debut of Boys in the Band star Joe Mantello.

On their official Twitter account, American Horror Story shared two brand-new character posters in addition to an official release of a previously revealed poster of Zachary Quinto. The first poster shows Teen Wolf actor Charlie Carver (who is also on the writing staff this season, with a co-writing credit on the second episode) as the character Adam, staring at himself in the mirror. The second shows the character Patrick, played by British actor Russell Tovey of Being Human, Looking, and Years and Years.

So far, the only things that have been revealed about either character are their names and costumes. However, Tovey's costume is particularly telling, showing that his character Patrick is most likely a New York detective, complete with a badge, holster, and mustache. The recently released American Horror Story: NYC trailer seems to imply that the season will combine a series of murders with the HIV/AIDS crisis that struck the city in the early 1980s, as implied by the freaky imagery as well as the tagline that the season takes place in the city's "deadliest year."

The character of Adam is much murkier at this point. Given the direction that American Horror Story: NYC seems to be going, however, he is likely a gay man who is haunted by the crisis going on in New York at the time. The haunting look on his face as he gazes at himself may also imply that he is dealing with a dual identity and is either struggling with a key facet of his personality or perhaps even wondering if he is secretly the killer and unaware of it.
