American Horror Story's creator, Ryan Murphy, says that he will reveal season 10's theme if fans can guess it correctly. FX's wildly popular horror anthology series first debuted back in 2011 and has since gone on to garner an incredibly dedicated fanbase. Even though it was initially only expected to run for ten seasons, FX made the decision to renew it for another three after that. Not only that, but a spinoff series is currently in the works titled American Horror Stories as well.

What makes American Horror Story stand out is the thrilling new themes chosen for each season, along with the incredibly talented recurring cast members. From witches to cults to slasher films of the '80s, the show has tackled a number of different topics in the horror genre. Its upcoming tenth season, however, has remained quite the mystery for fans. Despite showcasing a stellar cast that features plenty of familiar faces from previous seasons, along with some exciting new ones as well, not much is known about the show's tenth season. Even so, Murphy is still willing to reveal some hints and details for fans. With their help, of course.

The series' creator took to Instagram to share a post that states, "does anyone know when we all get our paychecks for being on this season of American Horror Story?" Which he then decided to turn into a little challenge for his very dedicated American Horror Story fanbase. His response to the post then reads "I'm so sorry. I'll be sending those out this week IF in the comments section you guess what the new season of American Horror Story is about," adding in that he hopes to "start shooting later this summer," and that "the winner takes it all." Check out Murphy's full post below.

There have already been a number of guesses floating around as to what the upcoming season's theme could be. Many speculate a theme revolving around aquatic horror, while others have even guessed a theme having to do with aliens, branching off from what was briefly explored in season 2's Asylum. Whatever it ends up being, though, it has been rumored that Murphy's crew is filming near a coastal New England town, which has certainly pushed fans more towards the former theory. Regardless, Murphy could have more than one idea up his sleeve as well.

Since production on the series is currently on pause due to COVID-19, fans have plenty of time to think about what this highly anticipated upcoming season could have in store for them. It's clear Murphy relishes in his fanbase's speculation on the upcoming season as well. Not to mention, it's a great way to maintain excitement and anticipation for season 10 as it remains on hold for the time being. Hopefully, American Horror Story season 10's release date won't be delayed because of coronavirus. Especially considering it's such a staple around the Halloween season, it'd be tough to see it pushed back.
