As fans of American Horror Story prepare for the premiere of season 10, theories about the themes and the story are still emerging all over the web, and one in particular suggests the sirens will be the result of experiments done on the aliens. The horror genre has taken over the film industry once more thanks to adaptations of famous literary works and also original stories, but it has also branched out successfully to TV. Among the most popular horror TV shows in recent years is American Horror Story, created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.
American Horror Story is an anthology series that has also built a universe of its own, with characters from one season appearing in others and events being referenced in different seasons. It all began in 2011 with the season retroactively titled Murder House, which focused on a haunted house and the ghosts of those who died in it, and since then, each season of American Horror Story has focused on different themes and concepts from the horror and sci-fi genres. American Horror Story is now preparing for its 10th season, titled Double Feature, and which will do things slightly different as it will be divided into two stories: one by the sea and one by the sand, and the themes will be aliens and sirens, though how these will connect is to be seen.
Of course, that hasn’t stopped fans of American Horror Story from coming up with a variety of theories on what the stories of Double Feature will be about, how and why the aliens (which were one of the themes in season 2, Asylum) will return, and how these will connect to the sirens, as the posters and trailer have shown these will be linked somehow. Now, plot details about Double Feature haven’t been revealed, and the only clues fans have are the titles of the first two episodes and the names of the main characters, which led one fan to theorize that the sirens will be the result of alien experiments, conducted by Angelica Ross’ character, The Chemist.
A fan on Reddit shared their interpretation of one of the posters, which shows one of the siren creatures licking an alien, showing that both creatures have sharp teeth, leading them to think the sirens were “engineered” by The Chemist and the black pills had to do with it. Another user added that the aliens might land on Earth and be found by a scientist (once again, perhaps The Chemist) who believes they’re “the ultimate life form”, thus leading to a series of experiments to crossbreed humans and aliens, resulting in monstrous sea-creatures. Another possibility is that the sirens might be the result of experiments conducted by the aliens on humans. In the trailer, there are quick shots of the aliens experimenting on a man, which could hint at them trying to create some sort of hybrid creature that will end up being a humanoid sea monster with fangs. It’s worth noting there’s also speculation about the sirens actually being a combination of these and vampires, given the sharp teeth and a scene in the trailer in which one of these has a Nosferatu-like appearance, so the marketing for American Horror Story season 10 could be misleading the audience, as it has done before.
Fans of American Horror Story only have to wait a couple more days to see what Double Feature will be about, what the mysterious sea creatures truly are (sirens, vampires, hybrids, or something else), and what their connection to the aliens will be, as well as their reason to return to Earth after the events in Asylum. The sirens/monsters being a result of experiments on the aliens or conducted by them seems possible, but American Horror Story always has a trick up its sleeve, and things will surely take many turns along the way.
