The title of episode 1 of American Horror Story: Double Feature has been revealed. The highly anticipated return of the long-running horror anthology series is nearly here. American Horror Story season 10 is set to debut August 25, nearly two years after the premiere of 1984. Little is known about the plot of the upcoming season, save for teasers doled out by creator Ryan Murphy. The producer has said that the season will feature two stories, one by land and one by sea. Many suspect that mermaids or sirens will be involved in some capacity, while aliens have been confirmed to be apart of this season's story thanks to Double Feature's first poster.

Plenty of American Horror Story veterans are returning for the landmark tenth season, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy, Finn Wittrock, and Lily Rabe. Other familiar faces include Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Matt Bomer, Adina Porter, and Angelica Ross. Double Feature is also set to include some franchise newcomers, including Macaulay Culkin, Paris Jackson, and Kaia Gerber. For the most part, the actor's respective roles are being kept under wraps, but with just over a month to go until the first episode debuts, the title of the premiere has been revealed.

Ryan Kiera Armstrong revealed on her Instagram that American Horror Story: Double Feature episode 1 will be titled "Cape Fear." Alongside this reveal, Armstrong posted two photos from the show. One features a mysterious figure walking down the street of a seaside town at nighttime while the other sees two gray hands climbing out of the water. The actress did not reveal anything about the episode in her caption. Check out the post below:

The title of the first episode immediately calls back to the iconic 1962 film of the same name. Cape Fear was also remade in 1991 by Martin Scorsese. Most notably, the remake starred American Horror Story icon Jessica Lange. It's unclear what kind of connection there is between the film and the series but it seems like no coincidence that the episode title shares the same name as a film starring Lange. Could Murphy be hinting at the actress' return?

Lange last appeared in 2018's American Horror Story: Apocalypse, but only for two episodes. Prior to that, the actress last had a major role in season 4 of the anthology series, Freak Show. Still, there's clearly a willingness to return to the series, especially if it's a role she's already played before. In Apocalypse, Lange reprised the role of Constance Langdon from Murder House and Murphy has said before that he is interested in bringing back more characters to reveal more details about the interconnected universe of American Horror Story.
