Ryan Murphy's series American Horror Story and Scream Queens vary in tone and style, but many fans of the series have suggested that their universes might overlap via some small connections.

Murphy has confirmed that all his seasons of American Horror Story are connected, which brings a really unique aspect to the anthology as each season differs in time, theme, and traditionally doesn't share the same characters. However, there have been crossovers there as well, and the show's eighth season, Apocalypse, was intended as a crossover between season three (Coven) and season one (Murder House), two of the show's most popular installments. Scream Queens does share actors with American Horror StoryBillie Lourd and Emma Roberts have appeared in both shows in starring roles. There's even a crossover with a different actor, Lea Michele, who starred in Scream Queens and was Rachel Berry on another Murphy show, Glee.

However, given the cult following of both series, fans have been eagerly picking apart clues that might connect them, especially since Scream Queens was canceled after only two seasons. While Murphy has discussed reviving it, should the two share a universe, it might be possible to involve beloved characters on American Horror Story in some capacity, especially now that is has been renewed through season thirteen.

Theories Suggest American Horror Story & Scream Queens Are Connected

Scream Queen AHS Connection Theories

While none of this has been confirmed, some dedicated fans have circulated numerous theories over the years that the two shows might share a universe. Though some are stronger than others, it does beg an interesting question as to whether or not Ryan Murphy would ever consider having some kind of crossover in the future, especially if he can't bring Scream Queens back. Murphy doesn't seem to be the type to make meaningless references to his work, and he's notably dropped Easter eggs and clues throughout his various shows as to what the future could hold, especially with American Horror Story. This is partially why so many fans like to dissect anything and everything that could hold a potential clue.

One of the first theories has to do with a particular surname that keeps popping up in both shows. In Scream Queens season 1, episode 10, "Thanksgiving", Chanel (Roberts) goes to visit the Radwell family, and is introduced to Muffy St. Pierre-Radwell (Rachele Brooke Smith). Tristan St. Pierre (Pablo Castelblanco), also known as Chanel Pour Homme, was introduced in season 2, but died in the same episode. Coco St. Pierre-Vanderbilt (Leslie Grossman), was a character in American Horror Story's eighth season, Apocalypse. Coco was the daughter of a billionaire, which means the St. Pierre family could be part of a shared high society family. It has already been established that both Scream Queens and American Horror Story have, at times, taken place during the Obama era.

One sharp-eyed Reddit user found a visual connection that many have considered to be either an Easter egg or a case of costume recycling, but could be more than that. In Coven, Kyle (Evan Peters) is part of a fraternity, Kappa Lambda Gamma. Scream Queens takes place primarily at Wallace University, and fraternities and sororities are a big part of the show's plot. In Scream Queens season 1, episode 4, "Halloween", someone was spotted wearing a shirt that was seemingly identical to the one Kyle wore in Coven. If the fraternity exists on both shows, that's another potential connection. Finally, during promos for season 2 of Scream Queens and season 6 of American Horror Story (Roanoke) two different individuals were seen bearing an eerily-similar, question mark shaped scar on the head.
