Patti LuPone has some strong feelings about Kim Kardashian joining the cast of American Horror Story season 12. LuPone joined American Horror Story for season 3, Coven, in which she played devout religious neighbor Joan Ramsey. She would take a hiatus from the series before returning in season 11, NYC, portraying former Broadway star and cabaret singer Kathy Pizazz. It was recently announced that Kim Kardashian would join American Horror Story season 12 as a new character, alongside The Resident alum Matt Czuchry.

During an appearance on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live, LuPone expresses her frank and honest thoughts about Kardashian joining American Horror Story. When Cohen asks if she likes the casting, LuPone vehemently declares, "No, I don't!" She confirms her ire comes from Kardashian taking a role from another actor and goes on to rhetorically ask her, "Excuse me, excuse me, Kim, what are you doing with your life?" LuPone also adds, "Don't get on the stage, Mrs. Worthington," a reference to Noël Coward's song "Mrs. Worthington." Check out LuPone's reaction in the video below:

Everything We Know About American Horror Story Season 12

American Horror Story Emma Roberts

American Horror Story season 12 will be titled Delicate, a reference to Danielle Valentine's upcoming novel Delicate Condition, which the season will be based on. The plot of the novel follows a woman who becomes convinced that sinister forces are keeping her from becoming pregnant, a reversal of the plot to horror classic Rosemary's Baby. Both Valentine's novel and American Horror Story season 12 are expected to release this summer.

Longtime American Horror Story cast member Emma Roberts will be returning to the franchise for season 12 in a main role. While Kardashian's part hasn't yet been revealed, creator Ryan Murphy has said that the role was written specifically with Kardashian in mind, and that the character she plays is "fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying." While some unexpected casting has worked in American Horror Story's favor in the past, like Lady Gaga's starring role in season 6, it's unclear whether Kardashian will make the same impact on Delicate.

While there are some, like LuPone, who see Kardashian's apparent stunt casting as a sign of American Horror Story's decline, others are interested to see Kardashian's acting chops in a genre unfamiliar to her. With each season of the horror series completely different from the last, a new plot direction with unconventional casting could either work in the series' favor, or be a fatal mistake. As American Horror Story season 12's release window draws near, more information about Delicate is sure to slowly be revealed.
