American Horror Story has featured a large array of colorful characters over its run. While pretty much every season shows characters backstabbing, betraying, and even killing each other, deep friendships (like Lana and Kit’s or Liz and Iris’) have always been a staple of the show.

Many seasons of the show feature small crossovers; but, Apocalypse serves as a full crossover between Murder House and Coven. The former’s Constance Langdon coming face to face with the latter’s Madison Montgomery has gone down in AHS history. Despite many characters from Coven showing up again for Apocalypse, some of the characters never got the chance to meet. Zoe Benson could bond with Apocalypse's Emily over their shared relationship drama and Coven’s Hank could form a witch-hating alliance with Michael Langdon. While those friendships would work, parings like Delphine LaLaurie and Dinah Stevens or Fiona Goode and Mallory would probably prove disastrous.

Would: Zoe Benson and Emily

Coven’s Zoe and Apocalypse's Emily are both young girls who are branded ‘special’ at the beginning of their seasons. However, they have far more than that in common. Zoe and Emily are both familiar with the AHS brand of relationship drama which could give them plenty to bond over.

Zoe kills anyone she sleeps with except zombie-boyfriend Kyle, while Emily is banned from consummating her relationship with Timothy (not that they took much notice of that). Both these characters did appear in Apocalypse but never came face to face, perhaps if they did they could compare notes on relationship frustration amidst the other madness of the AHS universe.

Wouldn’t: Delphine LaLaurie and Dinah Stevens

Delphine and Dinah would definitely take an instant dislike to each other. Delphine is one of Kathy Bates' best roles, and one of her defining relationships in Coven is with her archnemesis Marie Laveau. Marie’s successor as Voodoo Queen, Dinah Stevens is a key character in Apocalypse and it’s certain Delphine would share the same hatred for Dinah she had for Marie.

Both Delphine and Dinah are in positions of power but with highly opposing views and morals; the bitter rivalry between Delphine and Marie would likely be recreated here. A virulent racist, Delphine would despise Dinah merely for the color of her skin, let alone her connection to Marie Laveau.

Would: Misty Day and Mallory

Splti image showing Misty Day in AHS: Coven and Mallory in AHS: Apocalypse

Misty and Mallory do both appear in Apocalypse but barely interact, which is surprising due to their similarities. Misty is kind and nurturing and has an affiliation with nature; Mallory is also sweet-natured and in one scene she turns a flower petal into a butterfly. Misty also has the power of resurrection, which leaves some of the witches in Coven questioning whether she could be the next supreme.

In Apocalypse, Myrtle first questions whether Mallory could be the next supreme after she reverses a deer's injuries and brings it back from the dead. Misty and Mallory's warmth and shared connection with nature means they would be perfect friends.

Wouldn’t: Cordelia Goode and Wilhemina Venable

Split image showing Cordelia in AHS: Coven and Miss Venable in AHS: Apocalypse

Despite both being played by Sarah Paulson, Cordelia and Venable are far from alike. Cordelia earned her position as supreme of the Coven and is highly respected by the witches, whereas Venable abuses her power and uses fear to control the inhabitants of Outpost 3. By the time Cordelia appears in Apocalypse, Venable has already been killed, but it’s highly unlikely they would have seen eye to eye.

Venable revels in implementing strict rules and dispensing cruel punishments while Cordelia is determined to nurture young witches and make up for the crimes of her mother. While they’re both powerful leaders, their vastly different personalities would surely see these two at loggerheads.

Would: Madison Montgomery and Mr. Gallant

Fans never quite know whether to love Madison Montgomery or loathe her and, while she isn't exactly popular with other characters on the show, the spoiled movie star would be the ideal client for the hairdresser Mr. Gallant. Madison, especially during Coven, prides herself on her appearance, and Gallant's high-end salon caters to the rich and elite (like Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt). Madison's movie career means she certainly wouldn't be out of place among Gallant's regulars.

Madison and Gallant's friendship would be purely transactional and superficial, but mutually beneficial. Gallant of course had a 'friendship' like this with Coco; at the time, she was under an identity spell, with her new personality being modeled on Madison's. Coco liked Gallant (or his styling skills) enough to allow him a place on her apocalypse-escaping plane so there's nothing to say a similar friendship between Gallant and the real Madison wouldn't work.

Wouldn't: Joan Ramsey and Miriam Mead

Split image showing Joan Ramsey in AHS: Coven and Miriam Meade in AHS: Apocalypse

Joan and Miriam may have a shared enemy in common with the witches, but friendship certainly wouldn't be on the cards for these two. Although Joan is a pretty despicable woman, she is devoutly religious and desperately tries to keep her son Luke away from the witches who she believes are devil worshipers.

Miriam, an actual devil worshiper, definitely wouldn't have time for Joan; their opposing beliefs would be a constant source of conflict and any conversation between the two would likely involve them berating the other's views. Also, Joan certainly wouldn't approve of Miriam's allegiance with Anti-Christ, Michael Langdon.

Would: Hank Foxx and Michael Langdon

Split image showing Hank Foxx in AHS: Coven and Michael Langdon in AHS: Apocalypse

Coven's Hank Foxx and Apocalypse's Michael Langdon have a shared goal in common: killing all the witches. Since childhood, Hank has been trained as a witch hunter and even marries Cordelia in order to get closer to the witches. As the son of Satan, Michael also has questionable role models steering him down a devilish path.

If Michael kept his own powers a secret, these two could certainly become strong allies in their quest against the witches. In fact, Hank's attack on the Voodoo witches in Coven is not too dissimilar from Michael's assassination of the witches in Apocalypse, so they certainly think alike.

Wouldn't: Fiona Goode and Mallory

Split image showing Fiona in AHS: Coven and Mallory in AHS: Apocalypse

Coven's Fiona would do her utmost to get close to Apocalypse's Mallory, but not with friendship in mind. Fiona is one of Jessica Lange's best roles; she is power-hungry and narcissistic and obsessed with taking down the next supreme. While Cordelia graciously accepts Mallory as her successor, Fiona would never be so understanding.

Fiona would ultimately try her best to get close to Mallory, probably even plotting her murder in order to maintain her own supremacy. That being said, Mallory wouldn't be easily manipulated and would serve as a worthy opponent for Fiona. On the surface they'd be 'close' but neither could ever trust the other.

Would: Quentin Fleming and John-Henry Moore

Split image showing Quentin in AHS: Coven and John Henry in AHS: Apocalypse

Coven’s Quentin and Apocalypse's John-Henry are both warlocks with an air of sophistication. While the former’s constant quips might prove tiresome for ultra-serious John-Henry, the two share a lot of common ground.

Both characters have an affinity with the witches, unlike their fellow warlocks who are determined to overthrow them. Quentin was often found in the company of witches and John-Henry became a trusted ally to Cordelia’s coven, so they certainly keep similar company which is always a solid basis for friendship. Also, these two might find themselves bonding over a cocktail and their shared experience of being murdered.

Wouldn't: Fiona Goode and Wilhelmina Venable

Split image showing Fiona Goode in AHS: Coven and Miss Venable in AHS: Apocalypse

Fiona and Venable are both power-hungry and ruthless; but, these similarities are exactly why they'd be more enemies than friends. Both of these women would only 'befriend' people they can manipulate and control, which would leave them at odds with each other.

Fiona spends most of Coven trying to identify and kill her successor and Venable doesn't take kindly to being sidelined by Michael in Apocalypse. While they have different leadership styles, Fiona and Venable are both obsessed with control and demand respect. If these two ever got in a room together, chaos and bloodshed would surely follow.
