Evan Peters is a familiar face among the American Horror Story cast and has appeared in every season apart from 1984, including the upcoming tenth season. Peter’s has been central to the series since his first role as Tate Langdon in Murder House and has managed to make his mark on each season in a different way.
Within the many unpredictable worlds that American Horror Story presents, Peters has embodied terrifying villains just as convincingly as sympathetic heroes. From Kai Anderson to Kit Walker, and everything in between, the likability of Peters’ characters is just as changeable as the seasons themselves.
James Patrick March - Hotel
James Patrick March is Hotel's ruthless serial killer, who built the Hotel Cortez full of hidden rooms and hallways to conceal his crimes and hide any trace of his victims. March continues killing people in the afterlife and is responsible for the Ten Commandments killings.
March is charming and sadistic, and his ghost has been living at the hotel since his death almost eighty years prior. March is deemed the greatest serial killer of all time and functions as a guide for some of the most notorious serial killers in history.
Kai Anderson - Cult
Cult's Kai Anderson is a charismatic and manipulative cult leader, who was the victim of a traumatic childhood. Kai’s actions were not always malicious, and he once set out with his sister, Winter, to rescue a host of victims of a torture-house, killing the pastor who had been torturing them.
After the result of the 2016 presidential election, Kai’s actions escalate and he becomes the leader of a cult while also pursuing a political career. Kai progresses to murdering countless innocent people and manipulating many others. Kai plans many more horrifying acts, only to be intercepted by the FBI before he can carry them out.
Jeff Pfister - Apocalypse
Jeff Pfister is a billionaire scientist in Apocalypse who has absolutely no regard for others, or for humanity at large. Pfister welcomes the impending apocalypse as well as the arrival of the Antichrist. Jeff is also Venable’s employer, and one of the many financial contributors to the Outpost fallout shelters.
Jeff made his fortune creating lifelike sex dolls, he consumes excessive amounts of cocaine and he and his partner sell their souls to the devil, which warrants them a membership to the all-powerful The Cooperative. It is assumed that Jeff does not ultimately survive the apocalypse as Michael Langdon informs Venable that Outpost 3 houses the only remaining survivors.
Tate Langdon - Murder House
Tate Langdon is a teenager in Murder House whose ghost is trapped within the walls of the Murder House. Before his death, Tate was responsible for the murder of his father, as well as a mass shooting. Tate continues to kill people in the afterlife, targeting any innocent individuals who find themselves in the Murder House.
Tate’s character starts to exhibit redeeming qualities when he reappears in Apocalypse as he shows vulnerabilities and a genuine affection for Violet, which lends to him becoming significantly more likable than he was at the close of Murder House. It is also revealed that Tate is partially a product of the evilness of the Murder House itself and perhaps not entirely responsible for his actions.
Rory Monahan/Edward Philippe Mott - Roanoke
Roanoke's Rory Monahan is an actor who plays Edward Philippe Mott in the documentary "My Roanoke Nightmare," and its sequel, and cares for nothing apart from his career. Monahan’s character, Mott, is a wealthy slave-owner, with an extensive art collection.
Mott becomes a victim of The Butcher, who destroys all of his artworks, which Motte ruthlessly takes out on his servants. Mott, who is even more unlikeable than Monahan, is eventually burned to death, while in real-life Monahan is murdered by the nurses at Roanoke before he has the chance to pursue a breakthrough role in his career.
Mr. Gallant - Apocalypse
Mr. Gallant is a successful and wealthy hairstylist and grandson of Evie Gallant (Joan Collins) in Apocalypse. Gallant is working with Coco van Der Bilt when news of an incoming nuclear missile hits, and he accompanies her to Outpost 3. Gallant struggles to adapt to life at the Outpost and confesses to Michael his hatred for his sexual orientation, and his grandmother.
After the arrival of Michael Langdon at the Outpost, and the appearance of the Rubber Man, Gallant violently stabs the Rubber Man to death, only to realize that it is in fact his grandmother that he has killed. While Gallant's relationship with his grandmother was complicated, her death was more Michael Langdon's fault than it was Gallant's.
Kyle Spencer - Coven
Kyle Spencer is an outgoing fraternity member who meets and instantly falls in love with Zoe (Taissa Farmiga) in Coven, only to be killed by Madison (Emma Roberts) later the same night. Kyle is resurrected soon after, although he isn’t restored to his former self. The resurrected Kyle is prone to violent outbursts and struggles to assimilate.
After some teaching from Zoey, Kyle relearns how to speak and ends up entering into a polyamorous relationship with Zoey and Madison, who is also undead. A grieving Kyle eventually murders Madison for not saving Zoe, and later becomes a butler at the Coven.
Kit Walker - Asylum
Kit Walker is a patient at Briarcliff Manor in Asylum and the suspected Bloody Face killer. Although Kit is frequently subjected to inhumane experiments and has been wrongfully accused of murder, he remains a remarkably selfless person throughout his life.
Kit eventually saves Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson) from the real Bloody Face, and it is revealed that Kit was manipulated into confessing to crimes that he did not commit. Much later in his life, when he is long free of Briarcliff, Kit even takes in Sister Jude who was responsible for his treatment at Briarcliff and cares for her in her old age.
Jimmy Darling - Freak Show
Jimmy Darling (AKA “Lobster Boy”) has lived a life of exploitation since birth. Jimmy is a member of Elsa Mars’s troupe in Freak Show and dreams of living a normal life. Jimmy often stands up for his friends and rescues the twins, Bette and Dot, after they marry Dandy.
Jimmy is framed for a murder that he did not commit and is forced to agree to amputate one of his hands in exchange for bail, only to wake up to both of his hands having been removed. Jimmy gets a well-deserved happy ending as he is shown to be living a normal life, with Bette and Dot, who are carrying his child.
