Fan-favorite villain Twisty the Clown is back in a new American Horror Story: Cult motion comic promoting his upcoming appearance in the new season. While Cult premiering on FX this Tuesday, September 5, is focused on the real-life events of the 2016 presidential election, people's deepest phobias (notably clowns and holes) and crazed cults, the season will also feature the Freak Show villain - which is really no surprise considering the cult members shown in all the teaser trailers  are dressed in clown garb - and we catch a glimpse of Twisty in the first trailer.

During season 4 of the Ryan Murphy horror anthology series, Twisty portrayed by John Carroll Lynch became one of the most terrifying, yet sympathetic, villains of the series due to his twisted appearance and heartbreaking backstory. When Twisty was a baby he was actually dropped on his head which resulted in him developing a mental disability, he left Jupiter, Florida in 1943 to work as a clown with the Rusty  Westchester's Traveling Circus where the jealous carnival freaks spread a lie that he was molesting children. After leaving the circus, he struggled finding work and ended up attempting suicide but failed and blew off the lower part of his jaw resulting in a horrible face disfigurement.

In a new teaser released by FX, Twisty is front and center is this disturbing motion comic that shows the demented clown tearing out the liver and cutting out the tongue of one of his victims. Check out the teaser below:

The teaser has a directed correlation with the first trailer for Cult because we get a glimpse of Ally (Sarah Paulson) and Ivy's (Alison Pill) son reading a Twisty the Clown comic book and seemingly fascinated by the villain much to Ally's disapproval since she has a terrible phobia of clowns. What is going to be interesting though is to see how Twisty is going to make is reappearance in the American Horror Story connected universe considering he was killed off on the show during the 1950s in Florida and Cult will be taking place in modern day Michigan.

We also know that this season will not be featuring any supernatural horrors, so that rules out Twisty returning as a ghost. It can be argued that someone new may just be donning Twisty's costume, but it was also hinted that Lynch may be the one reprising the role so, if that is the case, Twisty may actually be back in the living flesh - but a flashback sequence may be the best bet.

While we have no idea how that is going to be possible in a season claiming to be absent of supernatural entities, it is  American Horror Story, so we can assume Ryan Murphy to utilize any available methods, twisted or otherwise, to way to bring back our favorite clown.
