Lena Dunham's American Horror Story: Cult character has been revealed. The upcoming seventh season of American Horror Story has almost arrived and new information continues being released as it gets closer. A recent trailer gave a lot of information about the characters being played by AHS veteran Sarah Paulson and newcomer Alison Pill - they play a lesbian couple raising a child together and struggling with Paulson's character's overwhelming fear of clowns.

Not too much is known about the other characters so far. A lot of casting announcements have been made about which former cast members are returning, such as Evan Peters and Emma Roberts - as well as which ones are not, like Kathy Bates. A lot of new cast members have also been announced, including Lena Dunham, Billie Lourd, and Colton Haynes. But so far, little has been revealed about who these various actors will be playing - until today.

Several facts about the upcoming season of the anthology series were revealed today at a screening of the first three episodes. According to TVLine, one of those facts include information about the character Dunham is playing. She will portray Valerie Solanas - the woman who shot Andy Warhol.

Warhol will be played by another AHS vet - Evan Peters. Peters is playing six different cult figures in American Horror Story: Cult. Aside from Warhol, he is playing a fictional cult leader named Kai, as well as Charles Manson, Jim Jones, David Koresh, and apparently one more cult leader who show creator Ryan Murphy did not name. Warhol and Solanas will appear in an episode called ‘Valerie Solanas Died For Your Sins, Scum Bag.’

Solanas was a radical feminist writer who shot both Warhol and art critic Mario Amaya on June 3, 1968. Both survived, though Warhol was badly injured and was affected for the rest of his life. Solanas has advocated for women killing men in a writing called the SCUM Manifesto. Her story is going to serve as a comparison to the present day female characters in Cult who are trying to find equality in Kai's group.

Murphy also revealed that Roberts is appearing in one episode as a favor to him. She is playing a journalist named Serina Belinda who gets a promotion over another character played by Adina Porter: “Simply because she’s much more superficial and willing to do what it takes to survive.”

Something else Murphy confirmed is that there are no supernatural elements in this season, as there have been in the show's past. This year, the evil is all human. And while some of the show's long time stars are not involved - such as Bates and Jessica Lange - Murphy believes they will be back again someday.
