American Horror Story has nine seasons in its anthology so far, so there are a variety of couples that have been featured over the years. Some of these couples are horrible and disturbing while there are also a few that are sweet and likable. Since the series is a horror anthology, many of the love stories are full of disturbing moments either because of the characters’ relationship or because of outside forces. There were some couples that fans were rooting for as well as some that fans wished would break up or worse.
Here are the five relationships from American Horror Story that fans were behind and five that they rejected.
SUPPORTED: LUKE RAMSEY AND NAN
When Luke Ramsey moved next door to Miss Robichaux’s Academy, it’s not surprising that he caught the eye of many of the girls there. He was good looking and likable, and it seemed like Madison would win out. However, it was Nan that Luke liked, and these two had a cute dynamic until it all went horribly wrong.
While Luke ended up in the hospital after protecting Nan from a bullet, and poor Nan ended up dying during the test of the Seven Wonders, fans still liked this sweet couple. It’s a shame they didn’t get a happier ending.
REJECTED: IVY AND ALLY MAYFAIR-RICHARDS
While there are a couple of adorable couples on AHS, there are many, many more that are rather disturbing. During Cult, Ally and Ivy seemed to be a normal couple with a few issues, but it was revealed that there were some major things going on. The fact that Ivy joined up with Kai and was part of psychologically torturing her wife is extremely messed up on so many levels.
It’s a bit of a shame that one of the few lesbian couples on the show was so awful, but their relationship was so bad that fans were excited when Ally poisoned and killed Ivy.
SUPPORTED: LIZ TAYLOR AND TRISTAN DUFFY
The relationship between Liz Taylor and Tristan from Hotel was a rather unexpected one, but these two were cute together. While Tristan was really stuck up and horrible before, their relationship was what they both needed. These two became a couple that fans were excited for, and they wanted to see them be happy.
Sadly, their happiness didn’t last. The Countess became jealous and ended up killing Tristan, and this is definitely something that fans can never forgive her for.
REJECTED: MATT AND SHELBY MILLER
These two were another couple that started out seeming like they were rather good together, but over the course of the season, fans came to hate these two both separately and together.
People were unimpressed by the way that Matt didn’t listen to Shelby. While the stresses of living at the Roanoke house understandably got to them both, they were both less than sympathetic as characters, and fans didn’t really see much reason to want them to be together in the end.
SUPPORTED: ZOE BENSON AND KYLE SPENCER
While there is another couple that Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga play that fans liked more, Zoe and Kyle are really superior in many ways. Kyle was a character who was a victim in many ways, and Zoe was someone who tried to protect and look out for him.
Their relationship was actually much healthier in many ways, even though everything that happened to Kyle is quite disturbing. It’s a shame that fans like Tate and Violet more, however.
REJECTED: CORDELIA FOXX AND HANK
This is a couple that was obviously set up for fans to dislike. As Cordelia is a character that many fans fell in love with, seeing her be betrayed so deeply by her husband was hard to watch. Hank was a witch hunter all along who had been going undercover as a way to get rid of the witches after being hired by Marie Laveau.
He was a truly evil man who seduces women and murdered them. So, it was definitely exciting when he finally died at Queenie’s hand.
SUPPORTED: TIMOTHY CAMPBELL AND EMILY
This couple is one that many fans rooted for even if they might not be the most memorable out of all the couples on this list. These two featured as the main couple on the Apocalypse season, and they were set up to be sort of an Adam and Eve couple.
While they tragically died while holding hands, when the event of the apocalypse got reversed, they were found to be living a happy, normal life. Well, that is until Emily gives birth to the antichrist in a shocking twist at the end of the season.
REJECTED: TATE LANGDON AND VIOLET HARMON
This couple is on the rejected spot, but the reality is much more complicated than that. While many fans loved these two together and saw them as really romantic, other fans were really troubled by the relationship. Tate Langdon was a school shooter who murdered 15 students, and he also raped Violet’s mother.
While American Horror Story tried to redeem him by saying that his actions were caused by the Devil being at the Montgomery house, this seemed like a cop-out. Either way, there were fans who supported the couple even before this reveal as well as many others who were disturbed by them.
SUPPORTED: KIT AND ALMA WALKER
Asylum is one of the seasons of AHS that has a lot of twists and turns and a lot of characters. This season had many different villains and kinds of monsters, and the relationships during this season were wild.
These two-faced many challenges as an interracial couple, and then, even more, when they became polygamists. This was a strange twist, but it’s clear that Kit and Alma did love each other a lot.
REJECTED: MADISON MONTGOMERY AND KYLE SPENCER
While fans rooted for and wanted Violet and Kyle to be together, they hated Madison and Kyle. Madison was horrible to Kyle, and she was the cause of a lot of his suffering after bringing him back to life. She then became jealous of Zoe and tried to create a situation where they would share him.
This relationship was really messed up, and it was clear that Kyle and Zoe should be together.
