AMD has officially reduced the prices for its Ryzen 7000 desktop CPUs just three months after their launch. Initially unveiled in late August, the Ryzen 7000 desktop processor lineup comprises four different CPUs aimed at the gaming and enthusiast market. The top-end SKU is the Ryzen 9 7950X, a 16-core, 32-thread behemoth. The next chip in the lineup is the 12-core, 24-thread Ryzen 9 7900X. Finally, the other two CPUs include the 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen 7 7700X and the 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 7600X.

Almost a month after launching the Ryzen 7000 chips, Intel announced its Raptor Lake CPUs with high core counts and insane clock speeds. The lineup includes six different SKUs at launch and is headed by the Core i9-13900K with 24 cores and 32 threads. Two of the other chips have the 16-core, 24-thread Core i7-13700K and the 14-core, 20-thread Core i5-13600K. While all the chips mentioned above come with integrated graphics, Intel also launched the Core i9-13900KF, Core i7-13700KF and Core i5-13600KF without IGP for people wanting to use discrete graphics cards.

AMD has discounted its Ryzen 7000 desktop CPUs by up to $125 ahead of the Black Friday sale. As of Tuesday, the reduced prices are reflected on AMD's official U.S. website, but it's unclear whether these are permanent reductions or just limited-time Black Friday deals. The biggest discount is on the Ryzen 9 7950X, which was launched at $699, but is now available at only $574. That's followed by the Ryzen 9 7900X, currently available for $474, down from its $549 launch price.

As for the Ryzen 7 7700X, it was launched at $399 but has received a $50 discount and is currently listed at $349. Finally, the Ryzen 5 7600X is available for just $249 after a $50 discount over its $299 launch price. Alongside the AMD website, the new prices are also reflected on Amazon and Newegg. Meanwhile, Microcenter is also offering up to $100 off on new X670 motherboards as part of a bundle deal with the purchase of a Zen 4 CPU.

AMD is expected to expand its Ryzen 7000 lineup with the launch of new Zen 4 CPUs early next year. The new chips will reportedly include the Ryzen 9 7900, Ryzen 7 7700 and Ryzen 5 7600 non-X SKUs that are expected to have the exact core count and be more power-efficient than their X-series counterparts. A recent report even claimed that they might be priced lower than expected, suggesting more good news for DIY PC builders in the coming year.
