The Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs from AMD will start to become available to buy online and in stores soon, providing consumers with more options when looking to purchase a new graphics card. However, choosing the right one will come down to a variety of factors, including the price. Here’s a quick look at the cost of the RX 6900 XT and the RX 6800, so consumers know which one is best suited to their individual budget.

AMD announced the Radeon RX 6000 Series in late October. More commonly referred to as ‘Big Navi,’ these cards look to offer a graphics performance improvement, and at prices that directly compete with Nvidia's new GeForce RTX 30 series. Overall, there are three new cards set to become available with two versions of the RX 6800, along with the RX 6900 XT. While the three share a number of common features, including the same RAM and Infinity Cache, the expected performance and price varies.

The most powerful of the three new AMD cards is the Radeon RX 6900 XT. Boasting more compute units and ray accelerators, the RX 6900 XT is the leading option for those who want the best gaming experience AMD has to offer. Of course, being the flagship model also means this is the most expensive of the new Radeon graphics card, with the price set at $999 in the U.S. In addition, this also happens to be the GPU that’s launching the latest, as the Radeon RX 6900 XT is not expected to go on general sale until December 8, 2020.

Choosing Between The Two RX 6800 Cards

AMD RX 6800 cards

Unlike the RX 6900, the Radeon RX 6800 is actually available in two flavors. These are the standard RX 6800 and the RX 6800 XT. Similar to the differences between the RX 6800 and RX 6900 in general, the standard RX 6800 comes with fewer compute units and ray accelerators. In addition, the standard card also boasts fewer TFLOPs and a lower clock speed. As a result, these differences make the standard model the cheapest option, with the price set at $579 in the United States.

For many consumers, the middle-ground RX 6800 XT is likely to be the best option overall. While it does not come with the same expected level of performance as the RX 6900 XT, the RX 6800 XT is priced considerably cheaper at $679 and makes fewer compromises than the standard RX 6800. This price is also only $80 more than the standard model, making it a reasonable upgrade option. Regardless of which AMD Radeon RX 6800 graphics card a consumer opts for, both are scheduled to go on sale next week, starting November 18.
