Actress Amber Heard details alleged abuse from ex-husband Johnny Depp during her court testimony. The former couple met on set of The Rum Diary in 2011 and married in 2015. A year later, Heard filed for divorce and accused Depp of domestic abuse, leading to a contentious legal battle that been ongoing ever since. Depp previously lost a libel case in the UK that he brought against the British tabloid The Sun over an article that referred to him as a "wife beater."

In 2018, Heard wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post in which she detailed her experience of domestic abuse at the hands of her ex-husband. Although she never mentioned him by name, Depp claims the accusations severely damaged his reputation and in response, he filed a $50 million defamation suit against Heard, which is the focus of the current trial the two are embroiled in. Since beginning last month in Fairfax, Virginia, the weekslong defamation trial has unearthed various shocking revelations about the former couple's tumultuous relationship, such as Depp's severed finger, his exit from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and a defecation surprise found in the actor's bed.

Now, Heard has taken the stand in the ongoing defamation trial and begun to detail explicit claims of domestic abuse and sexual assault by Depp. The actress began by describing the first time Depp allegedly hit her (per Court TV), which was in reaction to Heard laughing at his "Wino Forever" tattoo:

I will never forget it, it changed my life. I laughed, I thought he was joking and he slapped me across the face. I laughed, because I didn’t know what else to do. You think it’s funny, bitch? He slapped me again, it was clear it wasn’t a joke. I didn’t move or freak out ..I just stared at him. And he slaps me one more time, hard. I’m all of a sudden realizing that the worst thing that could happen to me happened.

In another emotionally charged moment, Heard detailed an alleged incident of sexual assault that occurred in 2013 (per Deadline), which included a "cavity search." Read a portion of her testimony below:

He’s grabbing my breast, he’s touching my thighs, he rips my underwear off and proceeds to do a cavity search… he shoves his fingers inside me. I just stood there looking at the light… I didn’t say stop or anything.

All updates for Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard trial

Up until this week, Depp's legal team was presenting their side of the case, as it is custom for the plaintiff to present witnesses first. This included Depp's own testimony, which spanned four days as the actor presented his version of events. Depp denies he was ever violent towards Heard, nor did he he sexually assault her, and maintains he was the victim of abuse in the relationship. Earlier this week, the defense began presenting witnesses, starting with the clinical and forensic psychologist Dr. Dawn Hughes who began to detail the alleged physical, emotional, verbal, and sexual abuse suffered by Heard.

As a result of Depp testifying first, the public seemed to be overwhelmingly siding with him. However, public opinion could be subject to change after Heard and her legal team present her side of the story, starting with the actress taking the stand for several days. Fortunately, the court of public opinion won't have any impact on the outcome of the defamation trial, as the verdict will be decided by a jury of their peers.
