This week Amazon Prime Video and IMDb TV are adding a selection of movies and TV shows with a heavy focus on the holiday spirit. Many studios are moving their releases back to movie theaters around the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, some movies are still releasing directly to streaming and the wait between a theatrical release and a movie being added to streaming is shorter than standard at the moment. This is especially true as the holidays get closer and some holiday movies are releasing both in theaters and on streaming on the same day. For viewers who would prefer to wait for content to come to streaming and the comfort of their own home, Amazon’s Prime Video and IMDb TV is consistently adding fresh content to be enjoyed from the couch.

Last week, Amazon added two docuseries, FC Bayern: Behind the Legend, which explored the history of a Munich-based soccer team, and The Ferragnez, the delved into the careers and lives of two popular influencers, Chiara Ferragni and Fedez. Prime Video also welcomed the latest season of LOL: Last One Laughing Mexico and a holiday movie A Christmas Star. Finally, for Sci-Fi fans, Amazon added the movie Encounter, which saw a theatrical release earlier this year and also aired the first episode of The Expanse season 6, which will be the show’s final season and will release new episodes on Prime Video every Friday.

While some streaming platforms work on a weekly cycle with all their releases dropping on a single of the week, Amazon’s Prime Video and IMDb TV use a monthly cycle. This means that Prime Video receives their new additions spread out throughout the month and the week with a slight weighting to releases on the first of the month. Their added content typically includes Amazon Originals, movies and TV series that are making their first appearance on streaming, and older content that is making its debut on Amazon’s streaming services of Prime Video and IMDb TV. Here is everything that Amazon is adding to Prime Video and IMDb TV during the week of December 13.
