Halloween (2018)

Amazon Prime

Most slasher franchises on their 11th installment don’t make movies this great. This sequel/reboot to the Halloween franchise brings back Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode and retcons a lot of the series’ sillier developments, like the revelation that Laurie is Michael’s long-lost sister, to deliver a movie that finally lives up to the original.

David Gordon Green and Danny McBride’s script for the reboot got the blessing of John Carpenter himself, director of the original movie. There’s a sequel on the way in 2020, so now would be a great time to jump on this Prime Day deal and refresh your memory ahead of the story’s continuation.

Westworld S2: The Door (LE 4K Ultra HD)

Amazon Prime

HBO’s long-form adaptation of Michael Crichton’s seminal sci-fi novel Westworld continues into its second season by raising the stakes and the existentialism. Season 2, which was subtitled “The Door” whereas season 1 was subtitled “The Maze,” built on the storylines and characters established in the first installment of the show by diving even deeper into the complex philosophical issues raised by A.I. technologies.

“The Door” was even more gloriously violent than “The Maze” and it also added to the series’ impressive world-building by introducing other parks like Shogunworld and the Raj. Check out this home media release of season 2 before season 3’s 2020 airdate.

The Bourne Ultimate Collection

Amazon Prime

The Bourne movies have made such an impact on the modern spy film genre that their influence can be felt in the most recent Bond movies – particularly in the Daniel Craig-starring reinvention Casino Royale. The story of amnesiac secret agent Jason Bourne was told brilliantly over the initial trilogy starring Matt Damon.

Then, the world-building continued with a sequel/spin-off starring Jeremy Renner as another agent, before Damon returned for an awesome, action-packed standalone Jason Bourne adventure. This box set also comes complete with a ton of special features that any fan of the Bourne movies will want to check out.

Sons Of Anarchy: The Complete Series

Amazon Prime

Combining the criminal enterprise dynamic of HBO’s The Sopranos with the gritty violence and pulpy action of its FX-based predecessor The Shield, Kurt Sutter’s biker gang saga Sons of Anarchy struck a chord with audiences in the late ‘00s and early ‘10s.

With an ensemble cast of lovable (and some not so lovable) characters whose long-running story arcs are deeply engaging, Sons of Anarchy became one of the most popular underdogs of the supposed Golden Age of Television kicked off by Breaking Bad. This DVD box set with delightful Prime Day savings is the perfect way to re-binge the series.

Jurassic World: 5-Movie Collection (Steelbook)

Amazon Prime

With its groundbreaking special effects and lovable characters, Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park didn’t take long to become the highest grossing movie of all time back in 1993, and it remains a timeless classic whose effects are barely dated.

The movie has since been followed by two sequels, a reboot that follows on from those sequels, and a sequel to the reboot. Each one has explored the dangers of man playing God while delivering a healthy dose of dinosaur action. All five are collected here in this unmissable Steelbook box set.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Amazon Prime

Despite the fact that it gave us the big screen’s third Spidey in a decade, Spider-Man: Homecoming was a tremendous success. As both an installment in the MCU and a reinvention of the Spider-Man franchise, it fires on all cylinders. Jon Watts directed the movie as an ‘80s-style John Hughes high school comedy, with Peter’s mentor/mentee relationship with Tony Stark taking center stage.

With Spider-Man: Far From Home currently in theaters, following up the plot from Homecoming in a satisfying way, now is the perfect time to go back and rewatch Tom Holland’s first Spidey solo outing. Prime users get a 20% discount on this one on Prime Day.

Apollo 11

Amazon Prime

Since this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission that led to the Moon landing – one small step for man, but one giant leap for mankind – a number of documentaries have been released on the subject.

This one is a clear standout, with a near-perfect 99% Rotten Tomatoes score and never-before-seen video and audio clips from the mission that put the viewer right in Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s shoes (or, rather, astronaut boots). With this Blu-ray copy of the film, you’ll be completely immersed in this breathtaking moviegoing experience.

Harry Potter: Complete 8-Film Collection

Amazon Prime

The Harry Potter series was the perfect story to grow up with, because as the characters went through their adolescent years and came of age during their time at Hogwarts, so did the fans. As the characters (and the viewers) got older and more mature, the stories got darker. Warner Bros. closely followed the books when they adapted them into movies, splitting the final book into two parts to ensure a real sense of closure on all the story threads and character arcs.

Now, the whole saga is available on Blu-ray with gorgeous high-def image quality, and with massive savings in honor of Prime Day.

Breaking Bad: The Complete Series 16 Discs

Amazon Prime

It’s been more than half a decade since Breaking Bad went off the air and the dust still hasn’t settled on the TV landscape. After the series finale aired (and before it, in some cases), every network was trying to premiere their own Breaking Bad, and their own flawed antihero in the mold of Walter White.

But Vince Gilligan, Bryan Cranston, and the rest of the team behind Heisenberg’s saga captured a kind of magic that all of those knock-offs have failed to. With Breaking Bad, they gave us the ultimate tragedy. With this box set, you can relive that tragedy.

Back to the Future 30th Anniversary Trilogy

Amazon Prime

The Back to the Future trilogy is a beloved staple of ‘80s cinema. The sequels aren’t considered to be as classic as the original – although, to be fair, the original is considered to be one of the best movies of all time – but they do interestingly build on the storylines and characters established in the first one.

Marty McFly and Doc Brown succeed in their quest to unite Marty’s parents and get Marty back to 1985, but they’re far from out of the woods – trips to the distant future, the Old West, and back to 1955 are still in order. So, check out the whole trilogy on Blu-ray.

Outlander Season 4

Amazon Prime

A lot of gritty, violent, historical dramas rose in the wake of Game of Thrones’ success, but Outlander is a standout – partly because it’s brilliant in its own right (some would say just as good as GoT), and partly because it mixes sci-fi elements into the historical setting, which you don’t often see. It’s the story of a nurse in the Second World War who is suddenly transported back in time to 1743 and involved in the Jacobite risings.

The show’s 13-episode fourth season is its most recent, and here, it is available on Blu-ray with some impressive Prime Day savings.

Band of Brothers / The Pacific

Amazon Prime

Tom Hanks is renowned as one of the greatest actors of our time, but his work as a producer should also be noted. Along with Steven Spielberg, Hanks and his production team delivered not one, but two fantastic HBO miniseries telling powerful and significant (and, unfortunately, often forgotten) stories from World War II. Band of Brothers focuses on Easy Company, based on interviews, letters, and journals from those incredibly brave men, while The Pacific follows three U.S. Marines in the Pacific Theater.

In this Special Edition Blu-ray box set, both of those miniseries can be bought and viewed together, as a collection.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 4K ULTRA HD

Prime - Save 20%

Although it faced the challenge of introducing a brand-new Spidey, Miles Morales, into an already-crowded Spider-Man film franchise, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse turned out to be one of the best movies of 2018.

With its interdimensional storytelling and big-screen portrayals of a handful of fan-favorite Spidey villains, Into the Spider-Verse managed to please both passive viewers and diehard comics readers. The animation style is the real star here, combining the look of cartoons and the look of comic books to create a beautiful, sumptuous, cerebral visual style for the film. Prime users save 20% on this 4K home media release on Prime Day.

Dark Knight Trilogy Collection (UHD/BD)

Prime - Save 20%

After Joel Schumacher seemingly brought Batman’s film career to the point of no return with Batman & Robin, Christopher Nolan brought the Caped Crusader back into the public conscious with Batman Begins, the gritty reboot that inspired every franchise to do a gritty reboot. Then, he topped it with The Dark Knight, which some critics consider to be one of the greatest movies ever made and includes Heath Ledger’s timeless portrayal of the Joker.

The trilogy’s final chapter, The Dark Knight Rises, concludes the story in suitably epic fashion. On Prime Day, Prime users will get a 20% saving on the whole trilogy on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray, the sharpest, crispest way to view home media.

Bumblebee

Prime - Save 20%

After years of slating any movie with Transformers in the title, the critics – and audiences, too – were taken by surprise when the first spin-off in the franchise’s extended cinematic universe, Bumblebee, turned out to be a great movie.

Starring Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena, its plot and visuals take influence from the Amblin movies of the 1980s like E.T. and The Goonies, which is both a refreshing change of pace and a delightful style of filmmaking. On Prime Day, Prime users get 20% off this 4K home media release of the film, which also includes a digital copy for portable viewing.
