Halloween (2018)
Most slasher franchises on their 11th installment don’t make movies this great. This sequel/reboot to the Halloween franchise brings back Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode and retcons a lot of the series’ sillier developments, like the revelation that Laurie is Michael’s long-lost sister, to deliver a movie that finally lives up to the original.
David Gordon Green and Danny McBride’s script for the reboot got the blessing of John Carpenter himself, director of the original movie. There’s a sequel on the way in 2020, so now would be a great time to jump on this Prime Day deal and refresh your memory ahead of the story’s continuation.
Westworld S2: The Door (LE 4K Ultra HD)
HBO’s long-form adaptation of Michael Crichton’s seminal sci-fi novel Westworld continues into its second season by raising the stakes and the existentialism. Season 2, which was subtitled “The Door” whereas season 1 was subtitled “The Maze,” built on the storylines and characters established in the first installment of the show by diving even deeper into the complex philosophical issues raised by A.I. technologies.

Outlander Season 4
A lot of gritty, violent, historical dramas rose in the wake of Game of Thrones’ success, but Outlander is a standout – partly because it’s brilliant in its own right (some would say just as good as GoT), and partly because it mixes sci-fi elements into the historical setting, which you don’t often see. It’s the story of a nurse in the Second World War who is suddenly transported back in time to 1743 and involved in the Jacobite risings.
The show’s 13-episode fourth season is its most recent, and here, it is available on Blu-ray with some impressive Prime Day savings.
Band of Brothers / The Pacific
Tom Hanks is renowned as one of the greatest actors of our time, but his work as a producer should also be noted. Along with Steven Spielberg, Hanks and his production team delivered not one, but two fantastic HBO miniseries telling powerful and significant (and, unfortunately, often forgotten) stories from World War II. Band of Brothers focuses on Easy Company, based on interviews, letters, and journals from those incredibly brave men, while The Pacific follows three U.S. Marines in the Pacific Theater.
