Several Spider-Man related shows might be headed to Amazon in the future. In recent years, Sony has kicked their Marvel universe into high gear, operating adjacent to the MCU. Venom was the first film to arrive in 2018, and despite mixed reviews, it became a huge financial success. Sony will roll out Morbius and Venom: Let There Be Carnage next year in addition to the third MCU Spider-Man film, which the studio serves as a partner on. Beyond those, Sony also has the second Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse currently in production, and last year, CEO Tony Vinciquerra said they're working on 5-6 television shows set within the Spider-Man world.

One of those shows was seemingly revealed on Thursday, when news broke that a Silk television series is in the works. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are attached to executive produce along with Amy Pascal, and Lauren Moon is in talks to write. Aside from that, very few details are known at this stage, including where the show could end up. Currently, sources say Amazon is in talks to acquire the Silk show, and it could end up with more.

According to the Variety report on the Silk series, Amazon is looking to be the streaming home for all of Sony's potential Spider-Man-related shows. It isn't clear exactly what those shows would be, but it definitely looks like they're the ones Vinciquerra mentioned last fall. No timeline was given for when fans can expect these additional shows to be announced.

Should this deal with Amazon go through, it would give the streamer a handhold in the Marvel universe for the first time ever. Before, it seemed more likely that any potential Marvel series from Sony would go to Disney+, as was recently suggested with Black Cat & Silver Sable. While there's been previous examples of Marvel shows heading to non-Disney-owned streaming services (like the Marvel Netflix shows), this is a particularly interesting occurrence now because the MCU is gearing up with its own television shows on Disney+. There could actually be two Marvel television universes in the future.

As for who these shows could focus on, that's less clear. Sony has the rights to numerous Spider-Man-adjacent characters, and there are plenty who could be ripe for their own show. The Silk series could indicate the direction Sony wishes to go in, and fans will no doubt be eager to speculate which character could be next. However, as the Silk series is in such early development, it might be a while before more information is revealed. Fans will just have to wait and see (and possibly sign up for Amazon Prime).
