Unfortunately for those waiting to transfer servers in New World, Amazon delayed the release of such a feature until next week. Although the new MMORPG launch saw over 913,000 concurrent players throughout its opening weekend - immediately topping Steam's player charts - its popularity caused the game's servers to quickly overcrowd. As a result, New World players are blocked from creating new characters on over-capacity servers.

As New World's servers quickly overpopulated, the game's developers encouraged players to join different servers in less-populated regions - under the guise these players would eventually be able to transfer to other servers (and servers in different regions). As a result, many players reluctantly joined different servers to build-up their characters, hoping they would eventually be able to join their friends on a different server. However, New World developers recently faced backlash after revealing "the original information provided was incorrect" and transfers are only available within a player's region. As a result, those who followed Amazon's original advice as a temporary measure were seemingly left with two options: either desert their character entirely to join a different and (likely) overcrowded server, or continue their progress in the server they only temporarily intended to use.

A fix for these issues appears to be on its way, but a recent report from the Daily Express reveals the server transfer feature has been delayed until next week. An Amazon spokesperson revealed, "We have the final pieces of the server transfer system tested and ready to go, but we are making a difficult decision to hold it until next week." New World's upcoming feature was delayed in part due to the game's popularity on weekends, seeing as the spokesperson explained, "This was a balance call between [honoring] a date we told you to expect, versus the disruption of a deployment during a peak play period."

New World Server Issues Prevail

While some of the game's biggest problems can be attributed to overcrowded servers or the inability to transfer regions, others occur in-game - such as NPCs hogging the open world's best fishing spots. One player became so fed up with such fishing-related annoyances, they vowed to kill a New World NPC every day until Amazon Games outright removes them. Other players have resorted to killing NPCs in order to overtake their former fishing spots, as well.

The New World server saga may continue, but at least its end seems to be in sight. A one-week delay is manageable, especially if it leads to a successfully functional server transfer feature. However, it remains unclear as to whether the future holds a region transfer feature. The New World team might have its plate full, but this upcoming solution seems to be in the right direction.
