A full-length trailer for director Marc Webb's retooling of the Spider-Man live-action film franchise (titled The Amazing Spider-Man) is slated to be unveiled within a month (from the time of writing this). In order to help keep the flick on moviegoers' radar - and not be overshadowed by this summer's two comic book movie titans, ie. The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises - Sony has been steadily releasing new images and chunks of information concerning the film's plot and characters.

Today, we have an international poster for Amazing Spider-Man, available for you viewing pleasure - along with the latest interview with the actor behind the new cinematic incarnation of Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield).

Here is the basic lowdown on the film's plot (for more, read the full official ASM synopsis):

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today.

The new international poster for the film is much more graffiti-like than its glossy domestic counterpart, but the overall gist and emphasis is the same - namely, the idea that Amazing Spider-Man will deliver a darker and more grounded version of the webslinger's origin story, which also touches on a pivotal subplot not included in the previous Sam Raimi-directed Spidey films (ie. the disappearance of Peter Parker's biological parents).

In other Spidey-related news: here is what Andrew Garfield had to tell The Times of India, with regards to his approach to portraying good ol' Peter Parker onscreen:

"I have tried to explore Peter Parker as an orphan. Orphans, I feel, are the strongest human beings on the planet. The amount of things they have to deal with in their lives, is amazing. I have tried to capture how Peter copes with the feelings of being an underdog, his confusions and his self-doubt . This, I hope, has brought, a certain empathy and sensitivity to his character that explains how it helps him become the hero that he eventually turns out to be.

"... I love the work that Toby [Maguire] did. I've watched him in the earlier three ['Spider-Man'] movies as a fan and I feel that what he did was perfect. I would never even begin to compare myself with him. And I feel it's not the point either. This film is another chapter in the legacy of Spiderman and my responsibility was to remain true to the core of the character . I've tried to do it as best as I could."

Many cinephiles were already fans of Garfield prior to his landing the part of Peter Parker, thanks to his engaging performances in films such as Boy A, Never Let Me Go, and The Social Network. Since landing the part, the up-and-coming, raised-in-England, actor has done a good job of winning Spider-Man fans over - thanks to both the candid manner in which he talks about portraying the famous Stan Lee superhero AND his (by all accounts) earnest love for the character and his story.

The rest of the Amazing Spider-Man cast and crew are likewise well-accomplished and seem to be genuinely interested in delivering a film that doesn't tediously recycle plot points from the previous Spider-Man flicks - or, at the least, recognize that moviegoers aren't interested in a rebooting installment that simply rehashes cinematic material that's just under a decade old. Hopefully, the final film result will reflect those intentions.

Look for The Amazing Spider-Man to swing into 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D theaters in the U.S. on July 3rd, 2012.
