As we continue to swing toward the release date of The Amazing Spider-Man, your Spidey senses have to be tingling with either excitement over the latest superhero movie, or with doubt over the webbed one’s reboot after only 10 years.
One day after releasing a 4-minute preview of The Amazing Spider-Man, director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) takes us on a voyage behind the scenes of his highly-anticipated version of the Spider-Man story.
For those unaware, Marc Webb was a music video director who directed musicians of all genres such as All American Rejects, P. Diddy and Green Day, before moving on to his directorial debut in 2009 with the comedic romance (500) Days of Summer. The success of (500) Days of Summer opened up the doors for Webb to land Sony’s 3D version of The Amazing Spider-Man.
During his 2 minute interview, Webb describes some his experience on set:
“In terms of creating something like Spiderman, there’s a level of complexity which can be satisfying and challenging all at the same time.”
Any aspiring filmmakers should check out the clip in order to get a quick glimpse into the world that takes place behind the camera of a big-budget Hollywood film. The video does a fantastic job of showcasing Webb’s direction and interactions with cast and crew.
Hit or miss, Sony seems to have “webbed” the right director when they recruited Marc Webb. Film fans just hope they won’t have to sit through another reboot of the franchise for a very long time; at the very least, longer than 10 years.
The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) as Spider-Man, Emma Stone (Crazy, Stupid, Love) as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans (The Five-Year Engagement) as The Lizard. The official synopsis for the film reads as follows:
“Peter Parker finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner.”
The Amazing Spider-Man hits 3D theaters everywhere on July 3rd, 2012.
