Sony's Twitter has playfully responded to the fan campaign for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 starring Andrew Garfield. When Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters in December of 2021, audiences around the world finally saw confirmation that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire appeared in the movie alongside Tom Holland. This appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through the multiverse reignited interest in seeing all three versions of Spider-Man continue their franchises. That sentiment is especially true for Andrew Garfield, whose Peter Parker and emotional return made him a standout part of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man return came over seven years after he last played Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014. The sequel was met with mixed reviews and underwhelmed at the box office (despite making over $700 million worldwide) based on Sony's expectations. The Amazing Spider-Man 2's performance directly led to Sony agreeing to work with Marvel Studios and reboot Spider-Man within the MCU. This meant Andrew Garfield's time as Spider-Man was over, despite plans for him to originally get multiple Amazing Spider-Man sequels and appear in spinoffs. Fans are now more interested than ever in seeing these plans continue after Spider-Man: No Way Home, leading to a growing fan campaign for Sony to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

The #MakeTASM3 fan campaign on Twitter has been loud for the last few months as fans continue to tweet at Sony telling them of their interest. After a recent social media post drew more speculation that an announcement for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 could be on the horizon, Sony's official Twitter account has now playfully responded to these calls. In a new tweet that promotes Spider-Man: No Way Home's availability on digital platforms, Sony once again referred to Garfield's web-slinger as The Amazing Peter #3. Since it was this phrasing that sparked Amazing Spider-Man 3 speculation before, the social media team included a funny disclaimer that they see the #MakeTASM3 hashtag but aren't the ones who greenlight movies.

Sony's Twitter account might not have the power to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but it is still the best avenue for fans to show their support. Those who want to see a third solo film starring Andrew Garfield are undoubtedly inspired to continue their campaign after watching Zack Snyder supporters play a major role in raising awareness of the Snyder Cut, which led to Zack Snyder's Justice League being announced. Making The Amazing Spider-Man 3 takes a lot more work than releasing the Snyder Cut, but that won't and shouldn't stop fans online from making sure Sony is aware of their interest.

It remains to be seen if the campaign for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 actually amounts to something. Even if a sequel or appearance in the Venom-verse doesn't transpire for Andrew Garfield, an MCU return could still be in the cards. A Spider-Man: No Way Home deleted scene set up his return, but it could've been cut to give Marvel and Sony more freedom on what to with him in the future. In any case, those supporting the #MakeTASM3 movement can at least take solace in knowing Sony sees the hashtag and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 support. Now it is just up to the studio to announce it.
