A fan poster for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 imagines a Black Cat romance. Felicity Jones appeared briefly in 2014's Amazing Spider-Man 2 as Felicia Hardy, Norman Osborn's (Chris Cooper) — and later Harry's (Dane DeHaan) — assistant at Oscorp. There were plans for her to fulfill her comic book destiny as Black Cat in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, though that obviously never came to fruition since the threequel was scrapped in favor of a new iteration of Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland, joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016's Captain America: Civil War.

Now, Andrew Garfield's recent return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home has renewed fans' interest in the threequel and, in a move reminiscent of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign, has fans demanding Sony bring back Garfield to cap off his own trilogy. Speculation about a third Amazing Spider-Man movie began to heat up even more when Garfield said he is interested in returning to the character in future movies. Whether or not that is alongside Holland or solo is unclear, but in the meantime, fan enthusiasm remains high.

On Instagram, digital artist Venomhology shared a fan poster imagining a Black Cat romance in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The artist produces work across a variety of fandoms, though has mostly been focusing on Spider-Man in the wake of No Way Home's release. Garfield's superhero appears masked while Felicity Jones also assumes her superhero identity as the two embrace. Check out the fan art below:

If The Amazing Spider-Man 3 ever comes to fruition, it would likely see Felicia Hardy becoming Black Cat considering the seeds that were planted in the previous film. Since the character is essentially Marvel's stand-in for Catwoman, it's also appropriate the two might develop a romance at some point à la the Bat and the Cat. As the artist points out, Felicity Jones was perfect casting and should be given the chance to come back and fulfill the character's potential.

Jones has come a long way in her career since her appearance as Felicia Hardy in 2014, as she received an Academy Award nomination the next year for her performance as Jane Hawking in The Theory of Everything, which propelled her to be cast in the Star Wars spinoff Rogue One as Jyn Erso. This might actually work against the chances of her returning in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, though there is no word that any such project is even in development. But with more and more fans getting behind the idea, certainly anything is possible.
