A video promoting the digital release of Spider-Man: No Way Home that heavily features Andrew Garfield has people speculating the strategic marketing choice could hint at a third entry in Garfield's franchise. The Amazing Spider-Man starred Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as his love interest, Gwen Stacy. Directed by James Vanderbilt, the middle child of Sony's Spider-Man franchises received only two features. Its follow-up sequel, this time directed by Marc Webb, saw the end of Garfield's journey with the character - at least for a while.

Thanks to questionable script choices and odd character direction, audiences were not quiet about their dislike of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, giving the studio a good reason to forgo the third film. After severing ties with Garfield and trashing the planned third film, audiences thought they had seen the last from this version of Peter Parker. It wasn't until the MCU reintroduced Garfield alongside Tom Holland and Tobey McGuire in Spider-Man: No Way Home that fans rediscovered their love for this version of Peter and began discussing the film that never was.

Using the renewed love for Garfield in their favor, the official Spider-Man Twitter page released a "Peter #3" highlight reel to announce the film's digital release dates. Not only does the teaser weave together clips from the recent film with old clips from Garfield's franchise, but it also features a title card reminiscent of Garfield's movies' posters. Fans are speculating whether "The Amazing Peter #3" might hint at a new solo film for Garfield, one that follows his journey as an older Peter Parker, forced to move on from his haunted past. Watch the trailer and read a few fan reactions below:

Within hours of publishing the video, Twitter users got #MakeTASM3 trending, showing their support for a third solo film. Fan art shows Garfield in the same universe as Venom, suggesting Spider-Man could go head to head with the symbiote. Others are simply voicing their love for the actor, and don't necessarily have a plot in mind, but are passionate that Garfield's performance in Spider-Man: No Way Home was charming enough to earn his own feature.

After their final battle with villains from across the multiverse, audiences watched each Peter fade back into their own world, but that doesn't mean the MCU is done with those characters. Teasing something as simple as a digital release with a video that inspired The Amazing Spider-Man nostalgia is perhaps no accident. Marvel and Sony have extremely calculated marketing strategies, including the denial tactics Garfield has become famous for since Spider-Man: No Way Home was released. Doors have been opened for a new film with Peter #3, and whether plans are being made or not, people are passionately voicing their support for a new Garfield film.
