The upcoming Amazfit Falcon could be the brand's best smartwatch yet, and its answer to the Apple Watch Ultra. Earlier this year, Zepp announced the Amazfit T-Rex 2 as its new smartwatch designed for outdoor adventurers. The watch is the third model in the T-Rex series that was first announced in 2020.

While brands like Garmin have sold rugged smartwatches for years, the entry of Apple and Samsung into this segment has made the space more interesting. The Watch Ultra is Apple's most expensive smartwatch but also its most advanced. With safety features such as a built-in siren and crash detection, it already has an edge over some of its rivals.

The Amazfit Falcon is not due to arrive until Oct. 13, but the folks at GSMArena have gotten their hands unboxing and product videos of the upcoming smartwatch. The videos reveal that the Amazfit Falcon will have a round display housed in a chunky metal case with two buttons on the right side and two on the left. The watch has a rubber strap in the videos, but this should be easily replaceable.

The Amazfit Falcon boasts a 20ATM water-resistance rating, which means it can be submerged to depths of up to 200 meters, making it suitable for scuba diving and high-impact water sports. It will have support for more than 150 sports modes and will have dual-band GPS like the T-Rex 2. It will also offer real-time navigation and support for route import. Users will be able to sync their sports data to Strava and Adidas Running. As expected, the watch will have a sensor for measuring heart rate and blood oxygen levels. It will also support stress monitoring. One of the videos also reveals that the watch can pair with external health tracking devices. However, it's unclear if these will be Amazfit or third-party products.

The Amazfit Falcon will have a 1.28-inch AMOLED display with a 416 × 416 resolution and a brightness level of up to 1,000 nits. It runs the Zepp OS operating system which offers a limited number of apps that include the likes of GoPro. The upcoming watch will have 32MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. Amazfit's new watch will have Bluetooth 5.0 and pack a 500mAh battery that will provide up to 14 days of usage. While the price of the Amazfit Falcon is still under wraps, it should be significantly cheaper than the $799 Apple Watch Ultra.
