Should users Save or Favorite a TikTok to create a ‘To Be Watched’ list, and are there other ways to do so? There are many reasons for individuals to save videos from social media platforms. Sometimes, they do not have time to finish watching, or maybe it includes a recipe they would like to try. No matter the reason, users expect the app to provide a way for them to return to a video without needing to search for it again.TikTok has many options for saving videos, and its parent company, ByteDance, has taken to Twitter to uncover which way is preferred among users. In a recent poll, "How do you save a TikTok to watch later," TikTok pits the ‘Like’ button against the ‘Add To Favorites' feature. The consensus is split mostly 50/50, with the Like button narrowly winning by 0.6 percent. That's hardly a loss to the Favorites option that offers more features under it.RELATED: Can You See Who Favorited Or Saved Your TikTok Videos?

The Like VS The Favorites Feature On TikTok

Two phones displaying TikTok. Left Phone features a new collections being created called TBW. Right Phone features the profile page with the Like tab open.

While watching a TikTok, tapping the heart to indicate you liked a video is effortless. Of course, this option allows users to find it under their Liked Videos in the profile. It is convenient and straightforward, but it offers no organization making it difficult to find the TikTok later, especially if it has been weeks or months since the user first liked it. Saving TikToks under Favorites is better for organizing TBW content.

By selecting the Favorites icon located under the comments button, users can create a TBW category or even place the TikTok under a label relevant to its topic. Still, if the user does not select a collection after adding it to the Favorites, the menu can be just as cluttered as the Liked tab. If a user decides not to utilize Collections, it boils down to preference on whether to use 'Liked' or 'Add to Favorites.'

Even with these two options, users find many other ways to remind themselves to come back to a video. Jose Valdez replied to TikTok’s tweet by explaining that he shares the TikTok with his wife to watch it later. Other users have also commented that they download the content to store the TikTok in their camera roll. Other methods include creating a file to store links or embedding the video. Resharing a TikTok is possible, but it does not post to the user's profile like Facebook, so that would not make it an effective tool for creating a TBW list.

TikTok’s poll provided a lot of insight, and it could prove useful to the company. The company can find better ways to improve user experience by asking their users directly. The social media app has recently provided users with new benefits, such as the Gifter Level Up program and effects like the Trickster's voice. Maybe TikTok is hinting at a future update for the Like button or Favorites feature.
