Many things have changed from the original game to the Resident Evil 4 Remake, including the addition of collectible Wind-Up Dolls, also known as Clockwork Catellans, that can be found in each of the 16 chapters. Resident Evil 4 players may recognize these collectibles as a shout-out to the original game’s “robo-Salazar,” a nickname given by fans to the Ramon Salazar statue.

The Clockwork Castellans are spread throughout the game, but there will only be one per chapter. While they can be hard to spot, they make a very loud noise that can be heard when nearby, making them much easier to locate. However, since there is no way to return to general areas after completing them, missing the collectible while there means having to re-do chapters to get it. So it’s advised to grab it the first time to save time. To consider Clockwork Castellans as "collected," they must be destroyed using a knife or shooting with a weapon like an upgraded Shotgun in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Players should first create a save at the start of each chapter so that if the Clockwork Castellan is missed, they can return to that chapter again to locate it. Unlike other titles, collectibles can be tracked across different Resident Evil 4 Remake save files.

Objective

Description

Location

Chapter 1

Head for the lake

Head into the ruined waterfront house through the window. Go through to the second room and look up to the right. The Castellan is sitting on a piece of wood there.

Chapter 2

Head for the church

There will be a shack that is off to the left when on the path to the Chief's Manor. Look at the corner next to the doorway; the collectible will be sitting there. This is also where Resident Evil 4 Remake players will find the official note about destroying the Clockwork Castellans.

Chapter 3

Cross the lake

Head down the ladder to the left when facing the Merchant's Shop. Go right around the exterior of the building until it dead ends. The Castellan is tucked away on the top crate.

Chapter 4

Investigate the two locations.

Unlock the gate to get to the Forest Altar. Then head up the ladder and straight across to the fence when at the top. The collectible is off to the left on the other side of the fence and can be hard to see in the dark rain.

Chapter 5

Head for the extraction point

Head to the top room of the Village Chief's Manor. Pull the lever behind the picture to bring a ladder to the attic. The Castellan is sitting off to the left in the attic, on a bench, next to a barrel and chess set.

Chapter 6

Escape from the village

Once at the catwalk area, a fire will be burning off to the right. The collectible is sitting directly in front of it. This one can be a little hard to see.

Chapter 7

Look for another way around

After heading up the ladder when leaving the dungeon, turn slightly to the right. It can be a little hard to see, but the head of the Castellan is peeking over the crates. If you are having trouble, go around the pile of stuff, and you will find it sitting on the top shelf to the right.

Chapter 8

Find Ashley

Head immediately right once in the Castle Battlements area and drop onto the lower level of the castle. Then, head straight to the exterior ladder and go up. Once at the top, head left and follow the path to a dead end where the collectible rests on some sacks.

Chapter 9

Head for the ballroom

After descending the stairs in the courtyard maze area, turn left to face another set of stairs. Head in that direction and take the second left on the right. Now that you have entered the maze, the turns will be right, left, right, left, right. This should end directly under the stairs you came into the area on. The collectible is off to the right behind some boards.

Chapter 10

Make your way to the surface

When heading into the depths, stop when reaching the purple merchant's light on the right. Directly across will be a grate in the wall. The Castellan is peeking down from the top left inside the grate. This can be one of the most difficult for Resident Evil 4 Remake players to find.

Chapter 11

Make your way to the surface

Once in the stopover area, before taking the second mine cart, investigate the building with multiple doorways. Once heading into the first doorway, turn around in the room. The Castellan is perched above the second doorway.

Chapter 12

Get to the top of the clock tower

At the base of the clock tower, head left around the Salazar statue to a corner with some wooden crates. The Castellan will be sitting on top of one.

Chapter 13

Go after Ashley

Right before the lab, there will be a bunch of truck trailers in the area with Resident Evil 4 Remake's new enemies called Ganado. There is one truck trailer that has a forklift pressed up against it. Go to where they meet, and the Castellan is tucked under the truck's trailer.

Chapter 14

Go after Ashley

Immediately after the Amber Storeroom, head right along the path. Before heading down to the campsite, turn right where the path opens, and there will be a room. The Castellan sits on top of some rusty lockers directly opposite the doorway.

Chapter 15

Make your way to the summit

Near the Specimen Storage area, there will be a room with body bags hanging from the ceiling. Head to the smaller area in the back of this room where the treasure is. Once opening the chest, turn around and look up; the Castellan is sitting on a beam there.

Chapter 16

Escape from the island

In the Underground Passage, right after the enemy bursts through the door during the countdown sequence, head into the room it came from. Multiple enemies will be struggling on the ground, but don't worry about them. There will be a forklift off to the right with crates behind it. The final Castellan is sitting on one of the top crates.
