Asher Adams was missing from All American season 4's premiere, so where was he during the episode? The CW's football drama based on Spencer Paysinger's pre-NFL career is back for another season after the surprising events of season 3. The finale included major revelations like Coop getting shot, Layla leaving town, South Crenshaw and Beverly preparing for the state championship, and Asher learning that he could no longer play football.

All of these storylines were expected to factor heavily into the start of All American season 4. For the most part, they did. The season 4 premiere began three days after All American season 3's ending. It revealed that Layla helped prevent Carrie from committing suicide, that Coop survived her gunshot wound, and that Beverly defeated South Crenshaw thanks to a controversial final play. The advancing of these storylines in All American season 4, episode 1 gave viewers a chance to see how each one will progress moving forward — but Asher's story was noticeably absent.

The first episode of All American season 4 featured all of the show's main characters and almost all of the usual supporting cast members too. However, Cody Christian was the biggest actor not featured in the premiere. He is confirmed to be back for All American season 4, which makes his absence from the first episode even stranger. Not only was he not shown, but none of the other characters even mentioned him by name. Most likely, this is because Asher is busy with his own storyline and didn't have anything to contribute to the storylines about Layla's experience with Carrie, Coop's recovery, the result of the state championship, or Spencer deciding to sign his letter of intent for college.

It is quite odd that Asher is completely missing from All American season 4's premiere, though. Viewers last saw him getting ready to play in the state championship game before his dad suddenly appeared. It was here that All American revealed Asher has a rare heart condition known as cardiomyopathy, which meant that he was no longer medically cleared to play football. This is devastating news for Asher considering he just received a full-ride scholarship to Coastal California. That's what makes it unlike Spencer, Jordan, Layla, Olivia, and others to not check up on their friend and see how he's doing. Chances are though, during the All American season 4 premiere, Asher is spending so much-needed personal time away from his peers as he grapples with the devastating news.

Since Asher isn't in All American season 4, episode 1, it should be interesting to see what the show reveals about his whereabouts. Now that his football career seems to be over, it wouldn't be surprising if Asher and his father were out getting second opinions from other doctors. That could explain why he isn't around during this episode. In any case, All American season 4 will need to provide a good reason for why Asher was missing from the premiere.
