Warning: This post contains SPOILERS for All American season 4, episode 1

All American season 4's premiere confirms Coop survived her shooting, and here's what that could mean for the story. One of the biggest cliffhangers from All American season 3's finale was the fate of Spencer James' best friend, Coop. The aspiring rapper got caught up in a feud with Mo due to Coop's role in killing her brother, and Mo's quest for revenge led to a dangerous confrontation. All American left viewers with a shot of Coop bleeding out after being shot by Mo, with Mo also fatally wounded by Preach shooting her.

The question about Coop's fate loomed over All American season 4 in the lead-up to the premiere, so it came as no surprise that the circumstances of her shooting was a massive part of the first episode. The story mostly took place three days after Mo shot Coop and Preach rushed her to the hospital. Doctors did what they could to keep her alive, but there was no guarantee she would survive the surgery to remove the bullet. Coop originally made it out of the operation alive but was still in a coma. All American season 4's premiere continued to play with the ambiguity about whether or not she'd ultimately survive and be alright. It took until the end of the episode to get confirmation.

The end of All American season 4, episode 1 revealed that Coop woke up from her coma three days after surgery. This was great news for everyone to hear, especially because she appears to be perfectly fine. Coop's survival is a big deal for All American season 4 and the show's ability to maintain a sense of normalcy. Most expected the show to confirm that she was alive since the season 3 finale didn't make it clear that she died. Killing Coop would've been a massively depressing note for season 4 to start on, and now she's poised to play a significant role in All American's narrative once again. The focus of this story could now revolve around Coop's recovery and renewed friendship with Spencer.

Coop Shot in All American

Coop's second chance at life took a surprising turn in All American season 4's premiere. When the cops came to question her about what happened the night Mo shot her, Coop says that she was the one who shot Mo. She did this to try and keep Preach out of trouble, as he is on parole and trying to start a new life with his and Mo's daughter. However, this could lead to her getting in trouble. Coop has now lied to authorities about what happened that night, so she might find herself in legal hot water down the road or with Mo's people coming after her. This could end with Coop ultimately meeting a fate she has just avoided.

Furthermore, the All American season 4 premiere already teased that this could lead to some conflict between Coop and Patience. They've been together for a while now and haven't faced a lot of turmoil like other couples on the show. Coop might be alive, but her decision to take the blame for Mo's death doesn't sit well with Patience. As a result, it is possible that they could have a big fight about what Coop did or even break up entirely. Since they've been portrayed as one of All American's more stable couples, Coop and Patience might also make it out of this circumstance stronger than ever.
