The first teaser trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) just released, and with it came a very quick tease regarding the new Spider-Man variants that could show up in the sequel. This blink-and-you'll-miss-it tease came towards the end of the trailer and consisted of three different Spider-Man logos that flashed on the screen for 1 frame each. The Spider-Verse franchise proved that it's willing to introduce both popular and unknown Spider-Man variants, which begs the question, who could these three new variants be?

2018's Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse featured seven different versions of the web crawler, some of which were fan favorites like Spider-Gwen and Spider-Man Noir, and others were deep-cuts from comic book lore, such as Peni Parker and a version of Earth-X Spider-Man. The next installment in the franchise, which was just confirmed to be a two-parter, promises to introduce even more variants into this franchise, starting with Spider-Man 2099, who was teased at the end of the last film.

Given Spider-Man's rich comic book history and the character's affinity for multiversal adventures, there are hundreds of variants that could be introduced in the sequel, but the three logos hint towards three specific Spider-Men that could potentially make their big-screen debut in the 2022 animated flick.

Ben Reilly's Scarlet Spider

Ben Reilly Spiderman

The first of the three logos teased at the end of the trailer shows a red and yellow Spider-Man symbol that resembles the one on Ben Reilly's Scarlet Spider costume. In the comics, Ben Reilly is a clone of Peter Parker, created by The Jackal as a way to torment Spider-Man. After seemingly dying during their first encounter, Ben returns to New York City to find Peter and fights alongside him as the Scarlet Spider. Ben Reilly is one of the most popular Spider-Man characters, and fans have been clamoring for him to be adapted into a feature film for years; Across The Spider-Verse could be the perfect project to make that happen.

'Ends Of The Earth' Spider-Man

The second logo is very reminiscent of the 'Ends of the Earth' Spider-Man symbol, especially with its color scheme. The 'Ends of the Earth' storyline followed Peter Parker as he tried to thwart Doctor Octopus's final plan to speed up global warming before his death. During those events, Spider-Man dons a brand new armored suit with various upgrades, which quickly became a fan favorite outfit after the story's conclusion, and found its way into almost every Spider-Man video game released since.

Spider-Man 2211

The third and final logo teased in the trailer resembles that of Spider-Man 2211. While the pink and yellow color scheme resembles that of the Agony and Scream symbiotes, the design of the symbol itself is a closer match to that of Spider-Man 2211. Max Borne is a robotics expert who becomes Spider-Man in the year 2211 to fight his version of Hobgoblin, his suit comes with 4 mechanical arms that he built by himself, similar to those used by Dr. Octopus. Spider-Man 2211 is one of the more obscure Spider-Man variants, which makes the character a perfect contrast to Ben Reilly and 'Ends of the Earth' Peter Parker if all three were to show up in the movie.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One) is bound to introduce audiences to multiple new Spider-Man variants, which was of the main selling points of the first installment in the franchise. The teases in the trailer indicate that this trend is going to continue, and Ben Reilly, 'Ends of the Earth' Spider-Man, and Spider-Man 2211 would be perfect candidates for the sequel. The Spider-Verse series has introduced a selection of both famous and vague Spider-Man variants to general audiences, and since the second film is going to follow in its predecessor's footsteps, fans can expect to see plenty of Spider-Man characters in the upcoming two-parter.
