Does Alien: Covenant have any scenes after the credits? Prometheus marked Ridley Scott's return to the franchise over 30 years after he directed the original Alien, and it was sold as a spinoff exploring the origins of the "Space Jockey" creature. While Prometheus was an ambitious sci-fi epic with a great cast and gorgeous visuals, it suffered from unlikeable characters and illogical plotting. Response to the film was divided too, but fans still wanted to see what happened next as the movie ended with scientist Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender's android David jetting off to find the Engineer homeworld.

Alien: Covenant from 2017 ended up being an awkward mash-up between the tones of Prometheus and a standard Alien sequel, with Scott clearly preferring the former. The director was pushed to include the Xenomorph and other classic hallmarks, but he wanted to focus on what he felt was the new franchise villain in David. Covenant has its strengths, including a great performance by Fassbender and a refreshingly bleak tone for a major blockbuster, but its also something of a mess. Plans for a third entry quickly stalled when the sequel underperformed and the future of the series is currently unknown.

Alien: Covenant at least ends on a strong note, with protagonist Daniels (Katherine Waterston) entering hypersleep and realizing too late that friendly android Walter - also played by Michael Fassbender - is David in disguise. David is now free to continue his experiments to create the "perfect" creature using the bodies of the colonists on the Covenant, which will take seven years to reach its destination. Those sticking around after the credits will be disappointed to learn there are no extra scenes or easter eggs.

James Cameron's Aliens, in contrast, ended with the sound of a Facehugger scurrying around, teasing the events of Alien 3. While Alien: Covenant may not have any post-credit tags, the movie's Blu-ray release contained an epilogue of sorts called Advent. This seven-minute short has David sending a video message to Weyland-Yutani after he's taken control over the Covenant, detailing his research on Planet 4 and his plans to continue his experiments. He even suggests Daniels will be transformed into an Alien Queen.

One version of the Alien: Covenant script ended with a similiar scene, where David hides his true identity until Daniels is asleep, and then requests the ship's computer to set up a message to Weyland-Yutani. The plan for Ridley Scott's third Alien prequel would have seen David set up his own "utopia" and the Engineers coming for revenge, though it's starting to look increasingly unlikely this chapter will move ahead.
