Billy Brown from Alaskan Bush People is dead at the age of 68, and members of the wolfpack are giving their last howls for the father they all loved and cherished.

Discovery Channel's Alaskan Bush People patriarch Billy Brown was widely considered the heart of the docuseries, which showed viewers his dream of living the self-sustainable way, with his family, off the grid. The Texas-born reality star blazed the trail for his wild family as they ventured into the State of Washington to live atop a mountain. Following a recent respiratory emergency, the patriarch's health problems left many fans concerned about him, and wondering about the fate of the show.

Sadly, his son Bear Brown confirmed on Monday afternoon that his father had passed away. Even though Billy was dealing with health problems in recent months, he made sure to live every day to the fullest. Billy Brown loved nothing more than watching his family thrive. Bear took to Instagram to share the sad news, writing: "We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering from a seizure. He was our best friend-a wonderful and loving dad, grandad, and husband, and he will be dearly missed." See a screenshot of Bear Brown's touching post below:

The middle son went on to praise his dad for living "his life on his own terms, off the grid, and off the land and taught us to live like that as well." The grieving son shared with fans that the Brown family "plan to honor his legacy going forward and to continue with his dream. We ask for privacy and prayers during this painful time. God bless everyone." Above those moving words, Bear shared a picture of his parents. In the photo, Billy is holding his wife Ami close. Fans will remember the two were made for one another. They stuck together through thick and thin. Billy was a doting husband who, in recent years, took a step back from the show to be with his wife while she was healing from her cancer battle.

Fans of Alaskan Bush People are beyond devastated. Brown may have been one of the last family men to grace television screens. The father often told his family and viewers that he left most of his chances up to God and believed that he and his family would be watched over. Billy became a legend for creating what he believed was the perfect lifestyle, which consisted of a home to call his own, with the beauty of nature all around him.
