Remedy Entertainment has outlined Alan Wake Remastered's various features, which include DualSense haptics, Xbox Smart Delivery, and audio commentary from writer Sam Lake. After months of rumors and leaks, Remedy formally announced the Alan Wake remaster in a heartfelt post on The Sudden Stop fan website.

The studio showcased a closer look at the re-release late last week during Sony's PlayStation Showcase, a big deal given Alan Wake's history on Xbox platforms. Epic Games will publish the enhanced version of the award-winning classic across all platforms, bringing the supernatural adventure to a generation of hardware for fans and newcomers alike. Remedy and Epic previously confirmed some of the features packaged in with Alan Wake Remastered, namely audio commentary and all DLC offerings. The latest bit of news lets loose a few more specifics about the package's extras.

A new post from Alan Wake's Twitter account outlines what exactly fans can expect from the forthcoming remaster. In terms of graphical enhancements, the tile will boast improved environmental details and upgraded character models across the board. "The Signal" and "The Writer" constitute the featured DLCs, the post notes. It also reaffirms the addition of audio commentary delivered by Sam Lake, as well as the return of Alan Wake's 100 collectible coffee thermoses. Finally, console-specific extras such as Xbox Smart Delivery and DualSense support on PlayStation 5 will factor into the experience, too.

While longtime fans most covet the addition of Alan Wake's American Nightmare, the standalone spinoff from 2012, it seems that particular content offering will remain on the sidelines. Perhaps Alan Wake Remastered will perform well enough to warrant the release of American Nightmare down the line, though?

Originally published by Xbox, Alan Wake hit Xbox 360 in May 2010 after a lengthy and rather turbulent development cycle. Its launch in the days leading up to Red Dead Redemption didn't do it any favors in terms of market performance, yet Alan Wake has long maintained the status of a beloved cult classic. Remedy's rollout of Control in 2019, along with the subsequent release of the Wake-featuring AWE DLC, reignited interest in the dormant franchise. And rumors suggest a proper sequel to the Bright Falls-set adventure could be in the works.
