The renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple will release the AirPods Pro 2 in 2022. The predecessor to the AirPods Pro 2 was released in the last quarter of 2019 and was generally well-received among the public. However, multiple rumors in 2021 suggested that the second version of Apple's wireless buds won't come out before 2022.

The AirPods Pro brought about several premium features. These included active noise cancellation and improved ergonomics. AirPods were initially introduced as a companion product for the iPhone 7, which was the company's first phone that did not feature a headphone jack. However, within these years, the earbuds have grown to be immensely successful.

According to the Apple analyst, the AirPods Pro 2 will enter mass production in Vietnam this year. He also predicts that the buds will host a Lightning port instead of the USB-C port. Other rumors suggest the model will feature more design changes as well. Kuo also sheds light on Apple's decisions to expand manufacturing in countries other than China. Up until now, China has been the primary market for the production of Apple's products. However, recently, the company has been making it clear to suppliers that it wishes to boost production outside of China. The company is currently thinking of India and Southeast Asia as their primary options to assist in expansion.

What To Expect In The AirPods Pro 2

AirPods Pro no stem

Rumors suggest that the upcoming AirPods Pro 2 will feature a couple of changes. The original AirPods hosted a stem that used to stick out of the wearer's ears. The AirPods Pro featured short stems. In 2021, the AirPods 3 came out that also featured stems. However, in the upcoming model, this might not be the case. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a reliable source for Apple's decisions, the AirPods Pro 2 will get rid of the stem altogether. Instead, it will opt for a design that closely resembles the Beats Studio Buds. If this rumor turns out to be accurate, it will be a significant change considering the stem was primarily popularized by Apple.

Earlier reports also suggest that the earbuds will sport a new chip that will replace the H1 chip planted inside the current model. In addition, it has been rumored that the AirPods Pro 2 will support Lossless Audio via a connectivity method that will replace Bluetooth, as the latter doesn't support the codec. But, of course, these are all just rumors, and users will have to wait until Apple officially announces them to know for sure what the AirPods Pro 2 will feature.
