The Ahsoka series has the opportunity to make Darth Vader's redemption even better if it features a Luke Skywalker cameo. While Ahsoka as a character only came to be decades after Return of the Jedi, it is currently impossible not to associate Anakin Skywalker’s former padawan with Darth Vader's story. Disney's new Star Wars canon has made the animated series and the TV shows in general as important to understand the saga as the movies, which can now be cemented with a Luke Skywalker cameo in the Ahsoka show.

Twelve years after making her debut in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka appeared in live-action for the first time in The Mandalorian season 2, where she was played by Rosario Dawson. Ahsoka's The Mandalorian season 2 episode served as a sort of backdoor pilot for her own show, which is now currently in production and eyeing a 2023 release. Ahsoka will be part of the "Mandoverse,” that is, the Star Wars TV shows produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni for Disney+. In the meantime, Rosario Dawson reprised her role as Ahsoka in The Book of Boba Fett, in which audiences finally got to see Ahsoka and Luke Skywalker sharing the screen for the first time.

Luke and Ahsoka's quick scene in The Book of Boba Fett left viewers wanting more from those two characters together, which could be paid off in the Ahsoka show. Luke and Ahsoka both played a huge part in Darth Vader's redemption, and it would be interesting to see Anakin’s two legacies, his son and his apprentice, joining forces or simply talking about their experiences with Anakin Skywalker. Ahsoka Tano knew Anakin much more than Luke ever did, and it could be through her that Luke finds out more about the man his father was before becoming Darth Vader. Likewise, Luke can reveal more to Ahsoka about Anakin's final moments, highlighting how her former master found true redemption before dying. Anakin's redemption was a bittersweet moment given everything the character had done as Darth Vader, but his final legacy to the galaxy could now be much more positive with Ahsoka and Luke teaming up.

Why Star Wars Skipped Luke And Ahsoka’s First Meeting

Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker in The Book of Boba Fett

In The Book of Boba Fett, it is clear that Ahsoka and Luke had already met at some point after Return of the Jedi and before the show. Curiously, after decades of expectation for Ahsoka and Luke to meet, Star Wars decided to skip their first interaction. Dave Filoni, co-creator of Ahsoka, revealed that he knows how Ahsoka and Luke met but that he is still not sure when and how he wants to tell that story. An obvious choice would be in the Ahsoka series through flashbacks, a resource that will most likely be used by the show given how it will tie in with the Star Wars Rebels finale. Ahsoka is making the Star Wars timeline more complicated, but it would be worth it to insert a flashback in it to properly flesh out how Luke and Ahsoka’s first meeting went.

Ahsoka and Luke represent two key parts of Anakin's story, and their encounter on screen has been long overdue. The Book of Boba Fett offered a tease of what the interactions between these two characters can be, but Star Wars needs more of Luke and Ahsoka together. Hayden Christensen, who plays Anakin Skywalker, is reportedly appearing in Ahsoka, which would make a Luke Skywalker cameo even more important.
