A live-action Ahsoka Tano series is in the works for Disney+ that will be a spinoff from The Mandalorian. Season 2 of Lucasfilm's first live-action Star Wars series finally brought the fan-favorite former Jedi Ahsoka Tano to live-action. After previously appearing in animated shows Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels, Rosario Dawson was cast to play her in The Mandalorian.

Rosario Dawson's involvement in The Mandalorian was rumored for months, but it wasn't until season 2, episode 5, that she debuted. It didn't take long for Ahsoka to become an even more beloved character in the Star Wars universe with this big role. The increased interest in her only fueled requests by fans to see Ahsoka star in a live-action show of her own, one that presumably could tie up the loose ends from Star Wars: Rebels. Now, it is officially happening.

During Disney's Investor Day 2020, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that an Ahsoka Tano series is in the works at Disney+. It is set within the timeline of The Mandalorian and is being developed by The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, as well as Dave Filoni, who played an integral role in Ahsoka's development with the animated shows. A release date has yet to be announced, but a logo was revealed.

Now that the Ahsoka series is officially confirmed, it will be fascinating to see if Dawson appears again during the final few episodes of The Mandalorian. Her appearance in episode 5 left fans with a bit of a cliffhanger after she mentioned the name of Grand Admiral Thrawn. With her connection to Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu aka Baby Yoda seemingly done, her appearance in The Mandalorian could ultimately serve as a backdoor pilot for this live-action series. But, with The MandalorianAhsoka, and the newly announced Rangers of the New Republic series set to crossover in the future, there should be more interactions between them in the future.

The Ahsoka show might not just be a place for Rosario Dawson's live-action version of the character to return, but it could also be where other characters from Rebels reappear. The mention of Thrawn is a strong indicator that he will be involved in the series, with Filoni even teasing that the Mandalorian episode might take place before Rebels' ending. That would pave the way for not only Thrawn to appear, but also Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger, and many others. Hopefully, the confirmation of the Ahsoka series means that more official announcements will be on the way soon.
