With multiple characters set to return in the new show, Ahsoka star Rosario Dawson has offered some insight for how it may connect to Star Wars Rebels' story. Ashley Eckstein first brought the character of Ahsoka Tano to life with Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in which she acted as Anakin Skywalker's Jedi Padawan. Created by George Lucas and Dave Filoni, Ahsoka has received largely positive reviews for her development into a unique character throughout the original animated series and has carried over into other properties, including Star Wars Rebels and The Mandalorian.

The upcoming Ahsoka, developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, serves as a spinoff of The Mandalorian and explores the character's ongoing hunt of Grand Admiral Thrawn throughout the galaxy. Rosario Dawson is leading the cast of the show as Ahsoka alongside Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Ivanna Sakhno, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ray Stevenson. With filming on Ahsoka finally getting underway, one star is opening up about the potential to come from the new series.

While speaking exclusively with Screen Rant at the Star Wars Celebration Event, star Rosario Dawson shared some new insight for Ahsoka. Though careful of delving into "dangerous territory" when addressing the show's potential Star Wars Rebels story connections, Dawson did praise the cast and crew putting together it and the other Star Wars series.

See what Dawson said below:

"I feel like that's a question that's getting into dangerous territory [laughs]. But what I will say, which I don't think is spoken to enough, is I really love that Carl and everybody up on the stage today really represented a lot more of the gamut of what it takes to make this come to life. And just like with Rebels, where it is a crew, we have a remarkable crew. The family that has been created in making these Mandalorian seasons and Boba Fett, and kind of moving on all of this is unlike anything I've ever worked on before.

Because they've all been working together. They know each other's names, families, histories. They spend time; we're watching children be raised in it. There’s this camaraderie that's on and off camera, and on and off stage, that I think has just been so powerfully welcoming, and invites you into the experience of Star Wars and what it means all the time. It's just a never ending experience, and I just want the whole world to be able to experience that."

Given the show has only just begun filming, it's understandable Dawson is keeping her lips mostly sealed on what's to come from Ahsoka, but there are already a number of indications of the series' Star Wars Rebels story connections. Dawson's debut as Ahsoka in The Mandalorian season 2 saw her specifically mention she was on the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn, who was last seen floating through space in the animated show's series finale with both his and Ezra Bridger's fates left unknown. Additionally, the cast for Ahsoka has seemingly offered the biggest confirmation of the live-action show's connection to Star Wars Rebels with The Society's Natasha Liu Bordizzo portraying the iconic Sabine Wren.

The biggest indication of ties between Ahsoka and Star Wars Rebels' story is the first footage shown of the upcoming series at the recent Star Wars Celebration Event, which revealed multiple characters from the animated series, including Ezra Bridger and Hera Syndulla. With a number of Ahsoka cast members still sitting with undisclosed roles and Star Wars Rebels co-creator Dave Filoni again at the helm for the live-action series, fans of the animated series may finally get the answers they've been eagerly awaiting since its emotional finale. While audiences await further details for Ahsoka leading up to its 2023 release, they can catch up with the character's animated start with both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels available to stream on Disney+ now.
