Lucasfilm's recently-announced Ahsoka series can recreate the ending of Star Wars Rebels in live-action. On the heels of the success of Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian, Star Wars is expanding its Disney+ slate with a string of upcoming shows such as the Rogue One prequel, Andor, and of course, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. While both are narratively separate from Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda's project, there are also new projects that stem from it in Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka.

Debuting as Anakin Skywalker's Padawan during the Clone Wars, Ahsoka's latest small-screen appearance before debuting on The Mandalorian was in the seventh and final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars which aired earlier in 2020. Her last chronological sighting, however, was in Star Wars Rebels' epilogue sequence, which took place sometime after the fall of the Empire. In the scene, Ahsoka joined Sabine Wren on a crusade to locate the missing Jedi Ezra Bridger.

When she made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka was alone on the planet Corvus. There was no mention of Sabine or any update regarding their mission to find Ezra, which made sense since there was really no need for her to divulge information to Din and Grogu about what she's up to. But there might be another reason why this wasn't tackled on The MandalorianStar Wars Rebels' epilogue has yet to happen when she encounters Mando and Baby Yoda. There was the general assumption that Ahsoka and Sabine started their mission not long after the Battle of Endor and the fall of the Empire, since the show takes place well before the events of The Mandalorian, which is set around 9 ABY - but that's apparently not confirmed. Dave Filoni recently floated the idea that The Mandalorian precedes the finale of Star Wars Rebels. Assuming that this is the case,  the Ahsoka series can work its way from the titular character's time in Corvus to her eventual reunion with Sabine to find Ezra.

This means that Lucasfilm will eventually have to start casting for live-action versions of Star Wars Rebels characters. It's unknown how many of the Ghost crew can appear in Ahsoka, since the team kind of went on their separate ways after the Battle of Endor. Hera remained with Chopper as she raised her and Kanan's kid, Jacen; meanwhile, Zeb and Kallus returned to Lasan. As it is, Sabine and Ezra are the only two players who have a good chance of them making it to the upcoming Disney+ series. For what it's worth, there have already been rumors that Lucasfilm has been holding auditions for Ezra which could very well have something to do with Ahsoka.

If Ahsoka's encounter with Din and Baby Yoda in Corvus really does take place before the Star Wars Rebels finale, it's curious why Ahsoka is already looking for Grand Admiral Thrawn. Since she disappeared in Malachor before the Chiss tactician was tapped by the Empire to contain the Ghost crew, Ahsoka hasn't had any contact with the villain — unless she reconnected with Hera and company which would've informed her of what happened to Ezra. Whatever the case may be in terms of the timeline, it would be difficult for Ahsoka to completely skip what happened in the Star Wars Rebels finale. Considering Filoni's involvement in both shows, it's safe to assume that he'll use the upcoming live-action series to provide answers to some of the persisting questions left after the animated series wrapped up back in 2018.
