Ewan McGregor has confirmed that his wife, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, is set to join the Star Wars universe in the Disney+ series Ahsoka. McGregor, who played Obi-Wan in the Star Wars prequel movies, is set to return to his iconic role for this May's long-awaited spin-off show Obi-Wan Kenobi. The series, which follows recent Disney Star Wars anthology shows including The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, follows on almost directly from where McGregor was last seen in 2005's Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

McGregor married fellow Hollywood star Winstead last month. The two had been dating since 2017, when they starred opposite each other in Fargo. Winstead's lengthy career includes fan-favorite films such as Final Destination 3 and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Sites online reported earlier this year that Winstead was due to follow in her husband's footsteps and was set to appear in Ahsoka, which will follow Rosario Dawson as the former apprentice of Anakin Skywalker.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, McGregor has confirmed his partner's upcoming introduction to the Galaxy far, far away. Talking about the future slate of Disney+ projects on the way, including his Kenobi show, McGregor finally confirms that “my partner, Mary, is doing that Star Wars series with Rosario,” referring to the upcoming Ahsoka show. He also adds that “she’s about to start” filming the adventure. Check out the actor's full quote below:

“My partner, Mary, is doing that Star Wars series with Rosario and she’s about to start […] our little boy has been born into this massive Star Wars family […] He will either embrace it or really go the other way. I don’t know. Maybe he’ll be a Trekkie!”

Fargo Shows What Mary Elizabeth Winstead Will Bring to Ahsoka

Winstead has recently appeared with McGregor in Birds of Prey and soloing as an action hero in 2021's Kate. Now, she joins a Star Wars spinoff that is shaping up to be very exciting for fans of the animated Clone Wars and Rebels adventures. Actor-director Bryce Dallas Howard, who has helmed several episodes of Mandalorian and a recent episode of Boba Fett, is returning to direct at least one chapter of the upcoming show. At the same time, Dawson is set to reprise the role she has played on screen in both of those recent outings. Ray Stevenson is set to play a mystery role, while Natasha Liu Bordizzo has been cast as Rebels' Sabine Wren.

While McGregor was keen to confirm his wife's presence in the Star Wars world, he did not let slip who she would be playing. Friend or foe, the actress has the action-prowess and acting chops to play a Rebellion hero or an Imperial enemy with ease. Whether she’s playing a more familiar name remains to be seen. Ahsoka already began filming, as confirmed by one of its stars, while Obi-Wan Kenobi debuts exclusively on Disney+ on May 27th.
