Hayden Christensen's return in Ahsoka can resolve the Chosen One prophecy. The prequel trilogy may have come to an end in 2005, but Hayden Christensen is once again standing at the center of the Star Wars franchise. He'll be returning in the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ TV series, where he'll finally get to suit up as Darth Vader - and will apparently be duelling Ewan McGregor 's Obi-Wan. But it's also been revealed Christensen will return in Ahsoka as well, a series that stars Rosario Dawson as the live-action version of his old Jedi Apprentice Ahsoka Tano. Dawson celebrated the news in a (now-deleted) Instagram post, in which she simply wrote, "Skyguy, ...They know!!! See you soon, Snips." The comment is a delightful reference to Anakin and Ahsoka's nicknames for one another, and seems to indicate the series will feature Christensen as Anakin rather than Darth Vader.

Anakin and Ahsoka have previously only interacted in animation, so the prospect of a live-action encounter between the two is delightful news for fans. This could involve flashbacks to the Clone Wars - finally meaning live-action Clone Wars scenes - but another exciting possibility is that Ahsoka will find herself meeting with Anakin Skywalker's Force Ghost. Anakin's Force Ghost is seen in Return of the Jedi, and recent comics have confirmed he remained active in the years after the Empire's defeat. The main plot of Ahsoka is set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and surely Anakin would want to pay a visit to his former apprentice.

This means Ahsoka can actually reflect on the Chosen One prophecy. She knew Anakin was believed to be the Chosen One, a prophecy the Jedi interpreted as meaning he would destroy the Sith forever. No doubt his transformation into Darth Vader shook her faith in the Force, and was one of the reasons Ahsoka never considered herself a Jedi throughout Star Wars Rebels. If Anakin does indeed manifest as a Force Ghost, then he can tell Ahsoka how his story ended, and the two can reflect on how and why that prophecy played out the way it did. It would be thrilling to see two Jedi reflect on the Chosen One prophecy after Return of the Jedi, especially given one of these is the Chosen One himself.

George Lucas was famously reticent in giving details about the Chosen One prophecy, but Lucasfilm has been fleshing it out in more detail. Claudia Gray's novel Master & Apprentice finally revealed its texts, as well as the context of the Jedi prophecies surrounding it; some of these are still unexplained, with a mysterious hint that the Force was brought out of balance because of "the sin done to the nameless." Concept art for Lucasfilm's current Star Wars: The High Republic transmedia initiative has included designs for a creature called "the Nameless," so it's reasonable to assume the dark truth about the Chosen One prophecy will soon be explored.

This makes Ahsoka one of the most exciting Star Wars TV shows to stream on Disney+, and potentially the most important. The interaction between Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano has the potential to shine a unique light on the main themes of George Lucas' prequel trilogy, helping to tie the narrative of the entire Skywalker saga together. The Chosen One remains one of the most mysterious mystical concepts in Star Wars, and although Ahsoka is unlikely to be completely definitive - mystery is an essential part of all the best mystical ideas - it could nevertheless help solidify it.
