Rosario Dawson is already hoping for an Ahsoka season 2 announcement. Star Wars: The Clone Wars introduced audiences to Anakin Skywalker's padawan Ahsoka Tano, and she went on to become an incredibly popular character across Lucasfilm's animated shows. It was not until The Mandalorian season 2 that Ahsoka made the jump to live-action, with Dawson taking over the role Ashley Eckstein voiced before. Her recurring appearances on Disney+ have been used to set up a solo show that is coming to the streaming service in 2023.

Most details about Ahsoka are still under wraps, but it is known that it will connect heavily to Star Wars Rebels. One of the biggest casting announcements made so far is that Natasha Liu Bordizzo is playing Sabine Wren. It is also widely expected that other members of the Rebel crew will appear. The Mandalorian season 2 set up Ahsoka's quest to find Grand Admiral Thrawn, likely as a means of locating Ezra Bridger. Lucasfilm has described Ahsoka as a limited series, but that is not stopping Rosario Dawson from hoping multiple seasons happen.

During a recent interview with THR, Dawson briefly mentioned her hopes for Ahsoka season 2. It came in response to a question about how much fun she and Bordizzo are having making the show. Dawson agreed that the production has been a blast, but noted that it is starting to become a bit sadder as filming nears an end. It was then that Rosario Dawson mentioned her hopes for Ahsoka season 2 by stating a desire for a sequel.

Mm-hmm. It was just her birthday! We both had our birthdays on this project, and it’s like we’re having the best birthday present ever in real time. But it’s already getting sad because it’s almost over. Hopefully, we’ll get a sequel! (Dawson holds up a pair of crossed fingers.)

Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano in The Book of Boba Fett in the forest looking serenely intense

Lucasfilm so far has not been quick to renew its live-action Star Wars Disney+ shows. The Mandalorian is the only one to receive a multi-season run to this point. Rumors have swirled that The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi could get second seasons, but neither has been confirmed to this point. The official designation of Ahsoka as a limited series would suggest that Dave Filoni has not envisioned the show as a multi-season adventure. However, plans could change if the series is a big hit and Filoni is inspired to write Ahsoka season 2.

Even if Ahsoka season 2 does not happen, it is quite unlikely that the show will be the last time Dawson plays the character. She might even appear in The Mandalorian season 3 to further set up her solo series and could return if a fourth season happens. There is also the chance that Ahsoka is a launching pad for a live-action Star Wars Rebels sequel show that Dawson could be part of. Since she has so much fun playing the character, Ahsoka should just be the beginning of her time in a galaxy, far away.
