Jon Favreau has given an update on the post-production of the forthcoming Star Wars series Ahsoka. Created by Dave Filoni, the TV show sees Rosario Dawson return to the titular role of Ahsoka Tano as she searches for a lost Imperial leader called Grand Admiral Thrawn. All signs suggest this will introduce whole new aspects of the Force, with Ahsoka's logo deliberately reminiscent of a realm called the World Between the Worlds.

Screen Rant spoke with Favreau on the status of Tano going forward in The Mandalorian's timeline, and the executive producer shared that the Ahsoka series is deep in post-production.

"Well, the good news is there's a whole Ahsoka show. [Laughs] I'll talk about it so Dave doesn't have to, but we're in post-production. He's done filming; the visual effects are starting to come in, and the music is starting to come in. Great cast, and what a rich legacy to build upon."

This hopefully means it won't be long before viewers get to see some clips from Ahsoka. It's generally assumed marketing will begin at Star Wars Celebration in April 2023.

The Ahsoka Disney+ TV Show Will Be A Priority For Lucasfilm

All seems to be going smoothly for Ahsoka in post, which should inform the release date later in the year. With The Mandalorian season 3 complete and releasing on Disney+, and most of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny probably finished in terms of VFX, Ahsoka will be Lucasfilm's top priority. Favreau's comment about the music is particularly exciting because a composer has yet to be officially announced for the series. Given his extensive work for a number of characters appearing in the show, Kevin Kiner seems to be the natural choice for the score.

The Ahsoka Disney+ TV show is the next evolution of one of Star Wars most important transmedia characters. Introduced as the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, the Clone Wars-era Jedi Ahsoka Tano now serves as the glue tying multiple eras together, having survived the Dark Times and the Galactic Civil War. Viewers are particularly eager to see her interact more with Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker, because she can tell Luke about his father. Ahsoka was seen spending time with Luke in The Book of Boba Fett, but hopefully their first meeting will be told in flashbacks.

Dawson's Ahsoka Tano made her debut in The Mandalorian season 2, where she confronts an Imperial leader named Morgan Alsbeth and demanded to know the location of Grand Admiral Thrawn. This dovetails with Ahsoka's last animated appearance in Star Wars Rebels, which suggested Ahsoka and her friend Sabine Wren would head into the Unknown Regions in search of Thrawn and their friend, Ezra Bridger, who had been lost in hyperspace with him. It's unclear where that scene takes place in the Star Wars timeline, so it may even occur after The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, where Ahsoka made a cameo. If that is the case, Ahsoka may even feature a live-action reproduction of that moment.
