Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi continues Star Wars’ tradition of revisiting Ahsoka through different points of her journey, but there is still one big Ahsoka mystery Star Wars hasn’t answered yet. Introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) as the Anakin padawan the movies had never referenced, Ahsoka went from a “retcon character” to one of the most important names in the Skywalker Saga. Despite being the key to the events of the Clone Wars, Ahsoka’s story continued through at least two other Star Wars eras – the Age of the Empire and the New Republic, meaning that it will still take some time before Star Wars reveals Ahsoka’s complete timeline.

From Clone Wars’ Battle of Christophsis to Luke’s Jedi Academy in The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka got to see the rise and the fall of the Empire. However, while Ahsoka helped the Rebellion fight the Empire up until the Star Wars Rebels season 2 finale, not much is known about what happened to Ahsoka between “Twilight of the Apprentice” and the Rebels season 4 epilogue. “Twilight of the Apprentice”, in which Ahsoka technically time traveled to the future but then returned to her original timeline right after, took place a couple of years before the events of A New Hope while the Rebels epilogue took place right after Return of the Jedi's Battle of Endor. In other words, it isn’t clear where Ahsoka was during the events of the original trilogy.

The Original Trilogy Is Still The Biggest Gap In Ahsoka’s Timeline

When Disney bought Lucasfilm, the last memory audiences had of Ahsoka was Anakin’s padawan walking into the sunset after choosing to leave the Jedi Order. Apart from a brief appearance in Yoda’s visions in Clone Wars season 6, Ahsoka would only return in the Star Wars Rebels season 1 finale. From then on, the now fan-favorite character became a constant presence in several Star Wars stories, including but not limited to the Clone Wars revival, The Mandalorian season 2, and The Book of Boba Fett. Ahsoka has had more screen time than some of Star Wars’ oldest characters, yet the franchise still hasn’t addressed the key where was Ahsoka during the events of the original trilogy question.

Will The Ahsoka Series Explain Why Ahsoka Didn’t Help Luke?

Curiously, Star Wars also skipped the moment Ahsoka and Luke first met. The Book of Boba Fett saw Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker in the same scene for the first time since the creation of Ahsoka, yet it was clearly not the first time Ahsoka and Luke interacted. If the Ahsoka series revisits the moment Ahsoka and Luke met, then it could also reveal why Ahsoka didn’t help Luke and the Rebel Alliance after the destruction of the Death Star. Despite hiding from Darth Vader and the Inquisitors, Ahsoka was not afraid of helping the crew of the Ghost and other rebels a few years before A New Hope – meaning that something must have changed after “Twilight of the Apprentice”.

The Ahsoka in the Star Wars Rebels season 4 epilogue was noticeably different from the one in the Rebels season 2 finale. From the clothes to the staff, Ahsoka seemed wiser, more experienced, and also more powerful than the version of herself who had fought Darth Vader. Ahsoka likely went through some sort of journey guided by the Force after fighting her former master, meaning that she did not feel ready to join the fight again until years later. Fortunately, Ahsoka is now back in the post-Return of the Jedi Star Wars timeline, and she is on a mission to find Thrawn and fulfill her promise to Ezra Bridger.
