Anakin Skywalker has just been confirmed to appear in the upcoming Ahsoka Disney+ show, and it means Obi-Wan Kenobi has to make his next Star Wars return in the show as well. It's an exciting time for audiences who loved Star Wars: The Clone WarsAfter Ahsoka Tano's live-action introduction in The Mandalorian season 2, the promise of a dedicated Ahsoka show, and Hayden Christensen's return in Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Clone Wars era is becoming fleshed out and expanded like never before. With Hayden Christensen now appearing in Ahsoka, there are a number of ways that not just Anakin but also Obi-Wan Kenobi might appear.

When considering Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka, it's important to remember that while The Clone Wars remains one of the most popular Star Wars properties, many Star Wars viewers have only seen the live-action shows and movies. Therefore, Hayden Christensen's return in Ahsoka will have to both serve the story and catch many viewers up on the master/padawan relationship the two shared. Also, as Ahsoka's timeline is supposedly similar to that of The Mandalorian - about five years after the events of Return of the Jedi - Anakin Skywalker will have already given his life to save Luke from the Emperor.

Because many viewers will need to be shown that Ahsoka and Anakin have a deep history, flashbacks are likely to be a key component of Ahsoka. As those flashbacks will have to be set before Anakin's fall to the dark side, Ahsoka will most likely take viewers back to the Clone Wars, when Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi was in his prime. Due to the close relationship Ahsoka, Anakin, and Obi-Wan all shared, it would be a huge missed opportunity not to have Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan return to Ahsoka for some Clone Wars scenes. In fact, given how much time the three spent together during Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Obi-Wan's absence from Ahsoka could potentially feel like a glaring omission more than a missed opportunity. Ahsoka and Obi-Wan even had their own story arc, most recently shown in The Clone Wars season 7, episode 9, when a more mature Ahsoka stands up to Obi-Wan in a way she wouldn't have when she was a young Padawan. If Ahsoka is truly going to delve into the former Jedi's past, it needs to touch on her relationship with her Master's Master and have Obi-Wan return once more.

Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian

Between Ahsoka's ties to Revenge of the Sith and the start of her journey at the beginning of the Clone Wars, there are plenty of opportunities for Ahsoka to show the young Jedi with both Anakin and Obi-Wan. There's also a strong possibility that Anakin will appear in Ahsoka as a Force ghost. While this may serve the story better in addition to flashback scenes rather than instead of them, Obi-Wan could feasibly enter the story this way. Of course, it opens the path for a potential plot hole, given that Obi-Wan was played by Alec Guinness at the time of the character's death. Star Wars has changed the rules of Force ghosts many times, though, with George Lucas digitally replacing Sebastian Shaw's original Anakin Skywalker with Hayden Christensen, and the sequel trilogy giving the ghosts power to interact with the physical world. Having Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan return as a Force ghost may be a matter of simple explaining.

Between Ahsoka's potential introductions of Ezra Bridger, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Sabine Wren, and other animated characters, as well as the return of Anakin Skywalker, the show is promising to be jam-packed with callbacks and cameos. There's always a chance Obi-Wan may simply make a quick appearance given the scope of the story Ahsoka may be trying to tell. Viewers will have to wait to see what's in store until footage from Ahsoka starts to surface.
