Marvel announces Agents of SHIELD season 7 will premiere at the end of May with the first poster. Marvel TV and ABC joined forces after the phenomenon of The Avengers to bring the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a revived Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), to the small screen. Over the last several years, Agents of SHIELD has seen its quality rise amid dipping ratings, which routinely put the Marvel series on the bubble for cancellation.

After a somewhat surprising pick up for season 6, ABC announced early on that Agents of SHIELD was renewed for season 7, with it later revealed it would be the final season. The series has recently dealt with time travel and alternate timelines, which have set up season 7 to take place in the past. Early photos for season 7 have teased the 1930s setting for Agents of SHIELD's final season, but it had yet to be revealed when new episodes of the series will begin airing.

It was announced today by Marvel that the final season of Agents of SHIELD will premiere Wednesday, May 27 at 10 pm EST on ABC. The announcement came with a teaser poster for season 7, but one that doesn't provide many clues to the adventure that awaits the LMD version of Coulson, Quake (Chloe Bennet), Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), May (Ming-Na Wen), and Mack (Henry Simmons).

Although Agents of SHIELD season 7 has long been expected for a summer 2020 rollout, now fans finally have a specific date to look forward to. The show's final season will stick to the late time slot that fans have grown accustomed to over the last few seasons, but they'll have to adjust their schedules for a new date. Instead of debuting new episodes on Fridays like recent seasons, Agents of SHIELD season 7 will be released on Wednesdays. After changing time, weekday, and season slots throughout its seven-season run, it's only fitting that another change to Agents of SHIELD's release schedule would come now.

The return date for Agents of SHIELD should be welcome news to Marvel fans. Although Marvel Studios planned for to launch Phase 4 of the MCU at the beginning of May, the coronavirus pandemic has resulted in Black Widow being delayed until November. With the premieres of the MCU Disney+ shows also potentially in flux, Agents of SHIELD now gives fans the comfort of new content that will start in May and last most of the summer with 13 new episodes. Marvel hasn't revealed too many details so far, except for the Agents of SHIELD season 7 teaser trailer released last year, leaving fans in the dark on what exactly the final season will hold. Hopefully, these final episodes will even creatively bring Agents of SHIELD back into the MCU continuity too.
