Season 6 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will officially debut in May. Debuting back in 2013, the live-action Marvel series on ABC got off to a rocky start with viewers. Despite starting off with great ratings, the show struggled to find its footing until midway through the first season. Although the show has not been able to regain the fans that it has lost, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has found a dedicated fan base. But, after being on the verge of cancellation for a few straight years, many believes that season 5 would be the end - including those who worked on the series.

That was not the case however, as ABC renewed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a sixth season days before the season 5 finale. The wait has been longer than usual for the new season though, as ABC elected to move it to the summer of 2019 for a debut. However, the extended wait paid off for the series too, with a renewal for season 7 already being announced. With two more seasons of content on the way, fans are eager to see what the show still has to offer, especially after a cast photo full of questions.

During Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s panel at WonderCon, it was announced that the season 6 premiere will be on May 10. The news comes after promo materials for the new season had previously confirmed a vague May return.

Now that Marvel has confirmed exactly when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to return, it should not be too much longer before they give fans another look at what the season is going to hold. The first trailer for season 6 debuted earlier this year, with the biggest takeaway being the confirmation that Clark Gregg is returning to show - but not as the Phil Coulson everyone has come to know. Even with this information, plot details have been difficult to come by. One of the only pieces of information to come out is that the show picks up one year after the events of the season 5 finale.

This time jump and the May launch for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also means that it will return in not only a post-Avengers: Infinity War MCU, but also after Avengers: Endgame. Fans have been dying to know how - or if - the series will tie itself to the cataclysmic events of Thanos' snap. The chances of all the core members surviving the Decimation would be low, and a failure to mention these events could dismantle the "Its All Connected" motto of Marvel TV. Thankfully, it will only be a few weeks now before fans get to see exactly what season 6 will contain.
