A new promo for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 promises "something's coming" tomorrow, teasing the reveal of a new trailer or footage. The ABC series debuted in 2013 as the very first television offshoot from Marvel Studios' ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, launching the small screen side of the shared superhero world. Though Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s first season stumbled, fans who have stuck with it would no doubt argue it gets better each season. In its first four years, the show has introduced comic concepts including Inhumans, Secret Warriors, Life-Model Decoys, and Ghost Rider, while also exploring new ideas, like the virtual reality of the Framework.
Now, the series is set to return for season 5 in under a week - premiering later than usual due to ABC first airing Inhumans season 1 - and the plot of the show's new outing has remained largely a mystery. The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 finale ended with the agents sharing a meal in a diner before being abducted, then it cut to Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) waking up in space. Aside from the space setting, the return of the Kree, and some new characters on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we know very little about season 5. However, that may change soon enough as Marvel is hyping the reveal of something.
Marvel unveiled a new promo on Twitter for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 with the caption "something's coming" and the video itself clarifying that something is arriving tomorrow. Take a look at the promo below:

Speculation in the replies to Marvel's post on Twitter run the gamut of the premiere of the Avengers: Infinity War trailer - which seems unlikely since the promo focuses entirely on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - to a special annoucement of a crossover with Inhumans. While some of these seem more plausible than others, it's unclear what exactly Marvel and ABC could be unveiling, though it's almost definitely for the new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season.
With less than a week until season 5 debuts with a two-hour premiere, it seems likely Marvel will unveil a new trailer, or perhaps part of the premiere episode. Marvel TV head and the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. did premiere footage at New York Comic Con - the first 20 minutes of the season 5 premiere to be exact. So, it's possible ABC will debut the first 5-10 minutes, or even the full 20 minutes, of the new episode before it premieres in full later this week. Or, of course, Marvel could be teasing something else entirely.
No matter what Marvel and ABC unveil for the new season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., fans are no doubt eagerly awaiting the season 5 premiere since there was a longer-than-usual hiatus after the season 4 finale. Whether the new season lives up to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s tradition of getting better each season additionally remains to be seen, but reviews from critics should come in sometime this week so fans will get an idea. And, with the premiere less than a week away, fans will get to see Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 for themselves soon enough.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 premieres with a two-hour episode on Friday, December 1.
