The latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., "All the Comforts of Home," introduced viewers to Dove Cameron's Ruby Hale. Now, the actress has revealed concept art that shaped her costume.

Ruby Hale certainly made an impression in the latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. She was introduced as nothing more than a rebellious teenager; by the episode's close, she was revealed to be the show's latest villain. Ruby is clearly obsessed with Daisy Johnson, for unknown reasons, and that led her to launch a terrifying attack on Daisy's friends in order to draw her out.

Cameron has taken to social media to give fans a deeper insight into the strange, dark costume her character wears when she's in the field.

The costume design seems amusingly reminiscent of Spider-Gwen's albeit inverted. That's an appropriate choice given the part is played by Dove Cameron. Cameron has voiced the part of Spider-Gwen in Marvel's animated shows for several years now; she's set to reprise the role in the upcoming Marvel Rising animated movie. In fact, Cameron is so commonly associated with Spider-Gwen that fans initially assumed she'd be playing a live-action version of the character in S.H.I.E.L.D..

The reality is very different. Ruby's costume is sleek and sexy, and the hood is styled to make her as sinister as possible. In a nod to '90s comics, Ruby wears straps on her legs that contain pouches. Traditionally, comics have avoided every revealing what are carried in pouches like that; it will be interesting to see if they serve a purpose in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Ruby carries her weapon of choice, a chakram, on her back. It's already proved to be a deadly weapon, slicing Yo-Yo's arms off without even slowing down. In one interview, Cameron actually suggested the chakram could be made of Vibranium. "That can slice through anything," she revealed, "it can cut through bone, anything and everything..."

Right now, General Hale and her daughter remain something of a mystery. They both appear to be original characters, created to play a role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5. That means comic book fans are essentially in the dark about both characters; their motives, their agendas, even their methods remain shrouded in mystery. Although they initially seemed to be focused on bringing in the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. team, the latest episode suggested they're particularly interested in Daisy. They also don't seem to care about bloodshed or loss of life.

The next episode, "The Real Deal," seems to be centered on the S.H.I.E.L.D. team themselves. But it can't be long before the series begins to explain the enigma that is Ruby Hale.
