Chloe Bennet says the rumors about her reprising Agents of SHIELD's Quake in a Disney+ show aren't true. After introducing her as a super-hacker named "Skye" in season 1, Agents of SHIELD revealed the truth about Bennet's character in season 2: she's really Daisy Johnson, aka. Quake, a superhero from the Marvel comic books. Bennet has continued to play a leading role on the series ever since, in addition to voicing Daisy in the animated Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors movie in 2018.
With Agents of SHIELD ending after the upcoming season 7, it would only make sense for Marvel to tap into the popularity of characters like Daisy and bring them over to Marvel TV's new home at Disney+. In fact, rumors have been circulating of late about Bennet reprising her role on such a series, maybe even a live-action Secret Warriors show. But if that's the case, then it's news to her.
As part of a Q&A on her Twitter account, Bennet addressed the recent rumors about her returning as Quake/Daisy for a Disney+ Marvel series, saying "I wish that were true... but they aren't... I haven't heard anything about that besides on [Twitter]."
Sadly, Agents of SHIELD season 7 will probably be the last fans see of Bennet and the rest of the show's cast in the MCU. The series is the final remnant of the old Marvel Television department run by Jeph Loeb, which was rebranded Marvel TV Studios near the beginning of this year and is now overseen by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Said division was also responsible for creating the Marvel-Netflix shows and Freeform series Clock & Dagger (in addition to ABC's Agent Carter and Hulu's Runaways), all of which have since been cancelled. Marvel Studios doesn't seem interested in integrating their characters into Phase 4 or 5 of the MCU either, and is focusing all its efforts on getting the upcoming Marvel Disney+ shows up and running instead.
While seven years is a good run for Bennet's version of Daisy/Quake (or any character on any TV show, really), it's still a shame she's never gotten to share the screen with any of the live-action superheroes from the MCU movies. It would be great if she popped up alongside someone like Kamala Khan aka. Ms. Marvel on her upcoming Disney+ series (much like the pair joined forces in the Secret Warriors animated film), but for now that's basically a pipe dream and not much else. Still, here's hoping Marvel Studios eventually changes its mind and does something at Disney+ with at least a few of the characters from the old Marvel Television series (like Daisy), rather than letting them go to waste.
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD season 7 begins airing Wednesday, May 27 on ABC.
